I’ve seen a few people on campus wearing PSU apparel. I left my clothes that were from other colleges at home because I thought it would show like, a lack of school spirit or something to wear it but people here wear other college’s stuff all the time.

Well, before the scholarship my family was pretty dubious about my possibilities of attending. It’s not easy to attend an OOS school that’s as good as Pitt without paying a fortune! But with the scholarship it’s much cheaper than in-state at UW-Madison which is next door. I would love to attend Pitt, and I think it would have great opportunities for me, but I have never even visited which I hope to do soon. I’ve only ever heard good things about it. Thanks to you all!

Visit and decide although UW-Madison is pretty good too. I hear they like to give OOS scholarships to entice OOS students to Wisconsin (I know of 2 OOS students who received full scholarships to attend).

Correct. Although i suppose its lucky just to qualify for instate at madison, 20,000/year to madison vs. 5,000-6,000 at pitt? Know what I’d pick :)

Today I received a FULL TUITION scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh! I couldn’t be more excited! In two weeks I get to visit Pitt with my family, and if it’s a fit then I am going to attend!

Congratulations to those who received the full tuition scholarship from U of Pitt! Good luck to your continued college and scholarship search!

For the National Merit Scholarship finalists, if they designate U of Pitt as their first choice, how much scholarship will they expect to receive and can they use the scholarship to cover boarding, books, meals etc. if their tuition is already covered by the full tuition scholarship?

You can use all outside scholarship money to cover room and board. For DS, his full tuition scholarship covers the tuition, his engineering scholarship covers most of his room and his outside scholarships covers the food. I don’t know how much Pitt gives for NMSF though.

Engineering is 4k for all four years. They pay $2,000 per semester.

Also, if the scholarship winners could post SAT breakdown or ACT scores, and whether in-state or OOS, that would help others assess their chances.

Here’s my D’s info.
