Applying early and having amazing stats (3.8+ UW GPA and 32+ ACT) doesn’t necessarily result in an acceptance THIS early. I know of so many people with killer scores who applied in September but didn’t get in until the middle of December (and still got into Ross as preadmits). So don’t freak out quite yet. But congrats to everyone of the Class of 2014 who has gotten in so far, and good luck to everyone else applying!

Also, people really shouldn’t be stressing out so much! there is still a month and a half left and plenty more waves of admissions.

^^when did you get your decision???

Yes, itsxmeg and uofmgirl when did you recieve these decisions?

uofm girl poses an interesting set of stats. All the other sets of numbers have been really high, and she would be considered borderline on this forum (I think that is some BS personally). Her legacy status is the most interesting though as I am too a legacy. So Right now I’m feeling cautiously optimistic about hearing a response in the next couple of weeks/round of decisions!

I think I was just deferred at University of Michigan, I doubt I’ll be attending but at least I’ve found this out before December.

What makes you think you were deferred?

^
I checked my application tracker and its a new heading that says 7th semester grades then status says notified. I did a few research about it on cc and it appears everyone who recieved it was deferred or waitlisted, ouch.

Where do you see this? How did it show up exactly?

^
I went to view credentials, under material where it mentions if it received recs, transcript etc… there is a new column that titles 7th semester grades, with status notified. I guess this is a deferrel base off my research on cc, big ouch.

Hmm I don’t have anything new on mine. Let us know when you find out if you got deferred or not. But yeah it does seem early for deferrals compared to last year…?

Mine is no different either. That really sucks though and I assume that the 7th semester grade thing would mean they will be examining you in the spring. I’m really sorry about that man, but don’t give up hope yet! :)

^
Yeah I will re-comment on the thread when I get the letter as past cc post states. You probably have great stats.

^^
Examing in spring? I wouldn’t dare wait to attend a university for spring semester, at all. Yeah I know its horrible, I guess University of Minnesota- Twin Cities is now my new top choice I’m also looking a lot into Boston University which is looking favorable, along with GWU and NYU etc… I just would like to not get deferred at these schools either.

^Actually no, I’m a 3.3 26 ACT. I’m a legacy though and the main focus of my 500 word essay was how the University has been central in my life and has helped me overcome some difficulties in life and at school. Just curious, what are your stats?

That’s not what that means, coolbrezze. It means that THIS spring they will look at your app again and decide what to do with you upon receiving your 7th semester grades. I’m not saying it’s not bleak but it doesn’t mean that you’d wait til spring semester to attend.

Where on Wolverine access will it say whether i was accepted or not?

^^My GPA is higher than yours and ACT/SAT is below.

^God man I’ve been thinking, If i get in, there will be thousands of kids who probably deserved to get in over me, and you’re one of them. I know this is a super competitive place but you were obviously successful in high school as far as grades go and I think that alone should get you in. If UMich is your first choice, I have a couple suggestions.
- Pump out a 4.0 this semester
- Write a letter that includes your umid and tell the admissions people that this is the only place you want to go. Don’t make excuses, just show some serious desire.

^
Thanks,
I know, although I don’t have the stats ( 3.8+, nationally top test scores) or a hook ( president/ captian of…) it would have been great to be one of those students who get lucky with below average stats and get accepted.

Yeah University of Michigan was my top choice, but obvious your advice probably are not too well for me. I virtually don’t see how I could be accepted RD when competition is 100 times higher and nothing really changed from my application at all ( entire point of applying ER). Plus the time investing to persued them to accepted is also not likely to be well, I now will have to put even more effort into the schools I still have a good chance of getting accepted into and increase my scholarship search since it appears I’ll be out of state.
