I took two AP exams last year (APUSH and AP Lit) in classes I wasn’t taking and got 5’s on each, I have three AP classes this year (AP Spanish, AP Euro, AP Bio) and am self-studying for AP Stat. I applied way back in September and have been on edge ever since. I really didn’t think that I would be deferred even though I know that I’m borderline, so that little envelope in the mail today was a wonderful surprise…

Deferred, I’ll post my stats later

swimminvegan, i’m shocked you were deferred especially considering youre from michigan. this makes me worried, as i’m very similar to you and not even from michigan, ■■■.

Oh jeeze, what is going on in that admissions office? Now I am becoming way too paranoid about my chances.

woww you guys have great stats, how are all you deferred!?
im way worried

seeing the stats of you guys who got deferred makes me really nervous about my chances…

Decision: Deferred
ACT: 34

UM GPA: 3.89, upward trend, mostly honors and APs
Rank: School doesn’t rank
Other stats: would be fifth generation in my family
ECs: 4 years varsity tennis, 3 year JV soccer, DECA regional champion, president of DECA, National Honors, Lifeguarding
Essays: dont matter much, fine
Teacher Recs: average, also dont matter much
Counselor Rec: Standard
Hook (if any): 4 fingers
State or Country: New York
School Type: Public, competitive school
Ethnicity: Indian
Gender: Male

OK. Now I’m just effing nervous. Kids with 34s and four fingers getting deferred? HOW THE HELL AM I GOING TO GET IN!? X-P

How did you get deferred? Just by letter or on WA too?

midwest and swimmin

i can’t believe that you guys got deferred. you both have great stats. damn, i’m so ****in worried now.

btw: they’re people with lower stats than both of you that got in. what the hell is goin on!

Something in their apps must have irked the admissions officers. They really seem like clear admits though.

Oh, did I say deferred? I copied it from someone else and meant accepted but I forgot to change it. Sorry guys. A 33 and 3.7 will get you in. don’t be nervous and i know this is not what you want to hear: people applying to UMich will be 1. Happy 2. Successful wherever they go for undergraduate study. After all, most people get their undergrad at some stupid school and go to Harvard and be pimpin awesome. kinda like me. :)

It seems kind of random to me. I got in with a 33 and a 4.0 OOS but a 10/50 rank, so just keep your head up guys!!! You’ll be fine. It all works out in the end. =D

i don’t really think sat and act scores are seriously all there is to their decisions. i think it really has a lot to do with luck too. i had 28, and my best friends, who had 29 and 27, got in. i seriously think it’s all up to chance. (if you also look like 5-10 pgs before when a bunch of people who got in were posting their stats, you can see that some of them had way below average scores…)

oh well. i’d rather be deferred than rejected. have you guys heard of anyone getting a rejection this soon yet?

it’s all up to God…

^Actually, it’s all up to the admissions officers
