Decision: Limbo–Requested that I retake the SAT in hopes of increasing my math score, and that I send in my semester grades. I retook the SAT and was pleased to learn that I increased my math score a good 60 or 70 points. My counselor is optimistic for my case and thinks the best. I’m incredibly anxious–anyone under similar circumstances? I mean–I took the extra initiative, and I’ve been told that’s what they really just wanted to see…any insight? I’m hoping/praying for the best.

@nineteen93 it’s up in the air, if you’re second semester grades are good and you’ve gotten a higher SAT you’ve done what they’ve asked, so as long as you take the initative and show that you really want to be a Hoosier, you should be fine! best of luck!

Major is exploratory, because of the requirements for direct admittance, which i do not meet. Indirect is just as good, you just get the official nod in the spring rather than before the fall. Better late then never.

General Comments: I’m really happy about this. This just goes to show that a low GPA can be made up for if you show colleges what else you bring to the table. Got my response about 2 or 3 weeks after submitting.

mboretz93, you say you applied for selective scholarships, but your stats are too low for you to have received a selective scholarship application. IU sends the selective scholarship application to admitted students who have certain minimum gpa and standardized test scores.

If money is an issue, make sure you apply to less expensive schools in your state. IU gives very little to out of state students other than pell grants, if you qualify, and federal loans and work study.

Applied at the beginning of January, my status when I log in says something like if you haven’t done so already please send your transcript to IU. I called and they said they had received it mid January and would “let me know” within a few weeks. I’m afraid I’m already way behind the 8 ball now :(
