Strengths: Grades, Rank, Asian, AP Classes
Weaknesses: SAT scores
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Overall stats pretty good. Not going to go there though unless they give me at least 20k which is stretching it. MyNOVA account didn’t say anything about scholarship money and I’d love to go there if they made it any chance cheaper but UW is starting to look really good with tuition at 8000 dollars.</p>

[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: My gpa and class rank aren’t as high as I would like them to be, but I still thought they would be good enough to get accepted with all of my other credentials. I honestly still can’t figure out why I was waitlisted.[/li][/ul]General Comments:</p>

<p>It’s my number one choice, pretty unhappy that I got waitlisted. A friend of mine had lower credentials in every single category (including GPA and class rank), but was accepted. The only advantage he has over is he is asian. I hope that’s not how they came to their decisions.</p>

<p>ReflectionGeneral Comments:
Sooo relieved to get into nova, thought it would be my hardest school to get into as I am at the lower end of the test scores, but clearly extra curiculars play a large role in their selection process. Be involved, and work hard in school and you’ll be in the mix! Oh yeah, I also visited the campus this summer and signed in with them, not sure if that helped but might have. I’m from AK.</p>

[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:[/li]I am actually shocked I was waitlisted, I was expecting a rejection</p>

<p>Just a warning to everyone posting stats - there are a couple people who were not accepted who are trying to use this list to argue that Villanova is practicing discrimination against white students.</p>

<p>Thankfully, the thread has been eliminated; sad that it took so long to be pulled. Hopefully he won’t be back!</p>

<p>Lol discrimination against white students at a university that is 70 percent caucasians? Ahahahah</p>

ACT: None
SAT II: 710 US, 690 Spanish
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.81 (4.08 W)

IB (place score in parenthesis):None
Senior Year Course Load: AP Calc AB, AP Lang, AP Gov, AP Stat, Honors Italian, US Issues
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): 5th on state Italian exam</p>

Job/Work Experience: summer ccd camp teacher’s aide, caddie
Volunteer/Community service: soup kitchen, sandwich group, church lector, peer minister
Summer Activities:caddying, basketball
Essays: I kind of rushed the common app one, but it still cmae out pretty good. It was about my perseverance to play varsity basketball after I started on JV. Work experience one was also pretty good about how I worked my way up the caddying hierarchy. I thought my Villanova essay was really good, talked about the importance of family as it related to the research of my own family tree.
Teacher Recommendation: Didn’t see them, one was probably great from my Italian teacher for two years and the other good from my AP US teacher
Counselor Rec: Generic
Additional Rec: None
Interview: None</p>

<p>Other
State (if domestic applicant): NJ
Country (if international applicant):
School Type: Public(1800 kids)
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male
Income Bracket: High
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Legacy
Reflection
Strengths: strong GPA, tough course load at respected HS, good EC’s, well-rounded
Weaknesses: SAT scores, lack of diversity, no demonstrated interest in business, B’s in math classes
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I guess they just saw consistent performance through all four years. I had a tough courseload throughout high school, especially senior year.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted: BC, Fairfield(Magis Scholarship), TCNJ, UMich(still waiting to hear from Ross), Richmond
Waitlist: Lehigh???
Rejected: Notre Dame(early action) :(</p>

<p>General Comments:
I was accepted early action, but just felt like contributing. I still have to wait to weigh all of my scholarship options from other schools becuase I won’t be getting any financial aid anywhere. It will probably come down to BC, Villanova, and Fairfield because UMich is too far and I haven’t been accepted to the business school yet. Villanova has a better business school and is closer to home, but BC has been my top choice all along. I sat in on a Villanova class on my third visit there and enjoyed it, but will have to visit BC again and Fairfield for the first time in order to make a final decision. Tough decision for sure and good luck to everyone else in finding the right school.</p>
