Official Class of 2016 admitted thread!

Has anyone other than halo512 received scholarship notification??? We are in Ohio and haven’t heard a word. It’s tough to wait and we are a little anxious as OSU is tied for our D’s top choice but I’ve heard there is frequently little to no merit aid offered.

I haven’t received anything about scholarships yet

S received scholarship letter last Thursday for National Buckeye and Maximus scholarships. He is OOS.

I thought that the scholarships listed online were automatic? Like if you have a certain ACT and GPA you will receive the amount listed… but I have not received anything yet either.

Finally admitted today~! 3.95 UWGPA, 2340 SAT, etc. Applied 11/29, econ major w/ premed.

The wait was driving me crazy. :’(

Do they look at H&S applications only after you’ve been admitted?

Yes–DD received Maximus scholarship letter dated 12-19-11.

so if we havent gotten a letter…we’re probably not getting one?

sure hope it isn’t the case that all scholarship letters have gone out as our DD meets qualifications and was accepted very early :frowning: She loves OSU but needs aid that’s been offered elsewhere.

@UofIeng…I wouldn’t take it to mean you won’t get anything. I think it’s still early and then with the holiday–it may have just backed them up. My D applied to the school rather early but submitted her honors app a day before it was due. Not sure what to make of it. Good luck to everyone. I understand how important these scholarships are…

D was accepted early December 2010 and received her notification of the Trustee’s Scholarship early February 2011. She met all the qualifications with scores, etc. so I thought it might have something to do with filing the FAFSA first and then OSU determines need/merit aid.

@bradison…thanks for the response…

i didnt apply for honors because i didnt meet the minimum requirements for gpa…do i just wait for a letter now?

I don’t think you need to apply to Honors and Scholars to get the scholarship $$$. I think that is just given to those that meet the requirements listed online.

The letter inviting S to apply for Honors and Scholars came prior to my S’s actual admittance letter to OSU which arrived a week or so later. There were two deadline dates. One was December 15, which in turn resulted in an earlier notification date from OSU. An applicant can still apply to Honors and Scholars now and in the future. They just won’t find out if they were selected to join by the end of January. That is my guess based on what was in the letter.

Does OSU have an acceptance weekend? When is it?

Wildwood330 is correct regarding the Maximus, provost and trustee scholarships–you do not have to apply for honors or scholars to receive those. But to be considered for presidential or medalist scholarships–you must apply to H&S by the dec 15th deadline. You can still apply to H&S after the deadline but as I understand it–you would not be considered for those tops scholarship.

Does anyone know if admission decisions are released daily? Or do they release batches of them on specific dates?

Usually they release decisions daily except for the weekends if I remember correctly. There are no specific dates until the end.

Accepted to honors program, business student! I sent in my $100 deposit 2 weeks ago. Do you think that sped up the honors decision?
