GPA (w): 3.97
SAT: 1960

Lots of volunteer work, leadership activities, etc…

Congrats to everyone who got in, this is so exciting!

My daughter was accepted today. She won’t be attending because Ohio State is giving her full tuition.

Act 28 comp
Gpa: 4.0 uw
Ecs: dance and cheeleading
Her essay was very strong and they commented on it ( as have her other schools)
Very strong teacher recs.
She visited once.
From very rural Ohio

Congrats all!!

I got accepted and my letter also mentioned the University College, is this like an honors program or something else?

Macmac5594 - I called admissions to ask about Univ. College. It is NOT honors college. Everyone who is NOT accepted into honors college is invited to be in Univ. College. Spaces are limited, but it isn’t “special” like honors college. My D applied test option but her other stats are very high. They said test opt. wouldn’t effect honors admissions, but it must have - top 10% of her very high achieving class and no honors college? Hmmm.

[] Interview: it seemed to go ok but not great, though they technically said it was non-evaluative so it shouldn’t matter…

[] Applied for Financial Aid?: Yep (and got no need based :frowning: got merit, but not enough to really make it affordable…)
[] Intended Major: International Studies
[] State (if domestic applicant): MA
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: Biracial (1/4 black, 3/4 white)
[] Gender: Female
[] Income Bracket: Middle Class
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): URM
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Grades/Test Scores, essays probably
[] Weaknesses: conveyed interest
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: American was a safety for me grades-wise, so I’m guessing I got in mainly because of that and because of my demonstrated focus in politics
[/ul]General Comments:
It was nice to get in, but because their financial aid sucks I doubt I’m going here, especially since I got into better schools for only slightly more money and have a full ride to UMD…the 4 year BA/MA program is tempting though, so I’ll probably look into it for a little while.
