choco, I called AU FA Office this morning and they answered in regards to why my FA portal did not show an FA award yet. Appearently, for AU, it is still customary for Independent/non-traditional Students (Aged 26, or married, or served in the armed forces) to still submit their parents financial info when applying for need-based FA. They said they would be sending an email by the end of today requesting those in this situation to submit their parents info or respond with supporting docs for what their situation is regarding why they should have their parents info excluded.

I totally laughed on the phone and said “Yeah, I’m not estranged from my parents or anything, but they for sure haven’t given me a dime for anything in life for over 6 years, and I’m married (not living with them), and despite the fact that they wouldn’t even be able to afford to support me, they have no legal obligation to either - hence why I was able to skip their info on the FAFSA.” They told me to just respond to the email with that.

So, eventhough your FAFSA may have been submitted on time (like mine was), you may be getting this email too.
