so im good?

I feel fairly confident with my 34 ACT and 3.99 GPA… but I’m still Sooooo scared I could get a rejected! Even if I am accepted though its still a long wait till March for Ross PA

And yeah I think your fine, then again I’m just another HS senior so take my opinion for what its worth

whoever made this thread is crazzyyyyyy. now we all are going to be crazily stressing to one another for at least 16 days

EricJPrice are you in-state? I also applied to ross PA

Well good to know I’m not the only Ross hopeful on here. No I’m OOS from Washington state actually, I’ve heard mixed things on if OOS helps or hurts though in the admissions process

ughh I think I’ve convinced myself that I will definitely get into UM, but when I really look at it realistically, it could go either way…I’m only in the top 20% of my class and my SATs are average, but I have a letter of recommendation from a Michigan professor and I think I let myself believe that because of that, I’m a sure in…ugh…this is just going to make a rejection so much worse :(

@AsianGinger, a rec from a UM prof will definitely help but not nearly as much as you think. It’s still mostly about what you accomplished by yourself. You need to have the stats to begin with or the rec is useless. I know this will probably make you feel worse hearing this at first but I hope it grounds you a little so if you do by chance get deferred, you won’t feel nearly as bad but I also had a rec from a UM prof, and I was deferred and waitlisted. It’s by no means a guarantee for admissions. Still, if you have a good GPA and you’re IS, you should get in, you don’t have to be amazing.

Good luck to all applying!

There is nothing I want more than to get in! ahhh I want to know already

@EricJPrice In-state applicants tend to be favorable to UofM, but you actually have a better chance of getting into ross. In-State for ross is 17% :/

^ isn’t that because Ross is that much more selective? What is the OOS admit rate to Ross? Even if it’s higher, it’s probably because the standards for OOS applicants for general admission are higher, meaning OOS students would be slightly higher qualified.

Be potentially prepared for a several month wait. If you are not a slam dunk candidate expect it may be several months before you hear. Even for early applicants decisions are often deferred and then you may be waitlisted. Don’t expect U of M connections to be helpful - legacy connections, donations, etc don’t matter much. Grades, scores, intangibles (race, economic background, challenges, sex, etc) all count for more than legacy.

I’ve been a Wolverine since my brother get accepted when I was in 8th grade. Applied for a dual-degree program in LSA/Music, Theatre & Dance. Can’t wait till the 23rd. My brother will be home and I hope I get accepted so I can celebrate with him. We’ll see…

@anthonyxy21
That actually helped me a lot. I feel like before, I was counting on my letter to get me in for sure, and then I had an epiphany and thought that I was for sure going to be rejected. What you said sortof put me back in the middle, which is fine with me! :)

just to let everyone know… i have spoken with an admissions counselor and all decisions will be sent out on the same day, sometime before the 23rd but they have not set the date yet. last year it was the 16th, i’d imagine it will be around then. goodluck to all.

Do they send an email telling you to be on the lookout for the decisions email?

how low do u guys think the acceptance rate is going to drop this year? 3 years ago it was at 50%, but that was before mich was on the common app, last year was only 42% i think.

yes they send out an email a couple of days in advance to make sure your spam settings are set to receive their email.

@Concretepencil94, It depends on how many people apply. Last year had about 40,000, up by 9,000 from the year before. This year, it is expected that the number of applicants increases to 45,000-50,000. So if we still assume 15,000-16,000 get accepted, using 15,500 as the number of acceptances, that would put the rate at anywhere from 31% to 34.4%.

@jessEllen yeah I’m not expecting to get into Ross preferred admit but it would sure be nice!

Lol I’d be very happy even to make it into LSA with how tough it sounds like its going to be this year (30% acceptance rate, etc.). Does anybody know if the majority of the new applicants are in-state or out?
