i’ve been told that if you apply early to a school, they will ask for your grades from first quarter senior year if they’re considering you… i haven’t heard from michigan about this, but i’m not sure if that’s maybe just because they do it differently? did any of you guys have the college counselor at your HS tell you they requested your most recent (at my school, it’s first quarter) grades?

I e-mailed my UM regional counselor about that because I have straight As in tough classes this quarter, and asked if I could send them in to UM. He said that first quarter grades would not be taken into account for any EA applicant, so it would essentially be useless.

awesome! good to know, thanks.

leonard… the november SATs will not be taken into account for early action.

I also have the blank bar. Very nervous because according to my school’s Naviance I’m on the line between acceptance/deferral. My inclination is that it means nothing, but maybe that’s the pessimist in me. Anyone have any experience with this?

On the front page of the “New & Prospective Student Center” main page, on the upper right hand side, under “holds” it will list any additional information needed for EA. If it says “no holds” (of course, you received the “good to go” email as well), UM has everything they need to make the decision.

Are you sure that November SATs won’t be taken into account? My guidance counselor told me otherwise - she said as long as Mich had one test score by the deadline, they’d consider other tests that came later. She called the office of admissions and asked.

LovesBrown if your hs counselor called U of M Admissions, obviously that information should rule over anything on CC posts. We all try to share info based on our personal experiences, but none of us claims to know all! LOL :)

My S also has that extra blank line that is “highlightable”…who knows what that really means. Waiting is just horrible!!!

I am so ready to hear back from them!!

So I just got rejected from Columbia where I applied ED. Nbd though since Michigan is where I really want to go. Can’t wait to hear back from them!

good for you.

^^snarky snarky… :P

I have the blank bar too. Does anyone not have it?

I have a blank bar too. What does it mean?

i asked a counselor. they said everyone has it lol. so no worries anyone.

i meant that @ajhhs12 has a good attitude

Thanks @flyingtomato. I live in Ann Arbor, so I’ve always wanted to get out of town for college. But of late I’ve realized that it’d be perfectly happy going here where I already have a bunch of friends.

i applied EA to Harvard, so maybe ill be in the same boat as you next week. i do love michigan though

anyone know the exact decision date??? i know its before december 23rd…

@giterdone what?!? are you sure? does anyone elses say “No holds”?
