*Official Class of 2016 University of Michigan RA Decisions Thread*

Well that’s just peachy.

Getting concerned in our household. Still no decision from Michigan. When son logs in, application is still pending. Do they act on all app’s or if you are rejected, do they just not tell you?

Where do you see the status on WA?

On WA you check it through application status. If you got accepted, there’s a link called View Decision next to View Credentials. If you didn’t get in, they’ll notify you
by snail mail. Though I heard from someone that through View Decision, it could also say that the decision will come via mail.

Wait what? They don’t notify you of your decision- whether accepted, waitlisted, or rejected- by email??

You know through WA first. For me, I got an email about 3 hours after checking my WA status. I’m not sure if they send you an email if you don’t get in. All decisions come out no later than mid-April.

Unless the person informing you is a current student who has gone through the application, acceptance, and enrollment procedures, take their advice with a grain of salt. Just a rule of thumb to think about, with all the high school seniors on here professing their knowledge about acceptance formats and good/bad deferrals and admissions procedures and applicant profiles. It’s all speculation, guys. Guessing is okay, but try not to blatantly proclaim that you know something about acceptance emails or the stats of wait listed students or whatever if you haven’t even been accepted yet. There are a few people on CC that just love to pass off rumors, individual information, and speculation as fact. Leave that information to people who’ve been through it. Good luck to all of you - the waiting is hard, I know, but disappointment can often be avoided if people stop passing off their guesses as fact!

That being said, the format for accepted decisions has been as such for the past few years, for me and most everyone I’ve talked to:

A “View Decision” link appears on WA - this link will take you to your decision of admittance; this is also the link to find out decisions of rejection or waitlist.

You receive an email with the subject “Your University of Michigan Admissions Decision”.

You receive a folder with a congratulatory letter and some general UM information in the mail a few days after your online acceptance.

Good luck!

Wow after reading some of your guys’ stats and looking at mine in comparison, I’m not sure how I got in when some of you had way higher SAT scores and got rejected…Anyways I applied beginning of January and found out Feb. 10.

Accepted to the College of Engineering
Some quick stats…
SAT I: Only got a 1900
GPA UW: 3.97
GPA W: 4.64
Senior Year Courses: AP Chem, AP Gov, AP English Lit, AP Comp Sci A, Arch Design, Early Dismissal
Extra Curricular: Eagle Scout, ran XC for a semester, soccer, used to be a gymnast

Yeahhh…Compared to some of you, my stats pale in comparison. Got accepted as an out of state student from California. Guess it helps since I applied early and decided to go with Hispanic on my applications instead of Asian. Hooray for being mixed :D.

haha congrats jmondrag! Stats aside, you must have impressed them with something exemplary! Good on ya!

I got in today – though I don’t know of anyone else personally who got an email along with me. I figure that maybe it’s because my counselor was pressing U of M to get back to me soon? Anyhow, it’s definitely great to know! Just for your information, I submitted my application in early December.

3.7-3.8 GPA as an IB diploma candidate with AP courses as well, 31 ACT, etc. :)

Go blue! And good luck to those of you still waiting to hear back – it could still be good news!

Congrats. Btw, by counselor, do you mean your regional counselor at Umich?

I applied before the Early Action date of November 1st, still yet to hear anything since my deferral in early December. SO frustrating since my numbers definitely exceed UofM averages (34 ACT, 770 Math 2, 4.6 GPA W) and people with lower everything have gotten in… really want an acceptance from UofM, but almost 6 months later, this wait is starting to get to me!

Michigan is pretty open with their admissions process. They even publish their forms in PDF format that they fill out when they review your application. Several people review your application, and the directors or assistant directors are the ones who have the tertiary opinion as well as final review. So if you’re a certain student who got two of the initial counselors (admissions member and regional counselor) to give a good review of your application (HA+ or HA is what ‘excellent’ is on the Michigan form), you may be automatically accepted. If you’re on the fence, the directors may need to review your app, in which case there may be a delay.

I am also still waiting. Applied in December.

where can i find those pdf forms?

http://www.admissions.umich.edu/applying/Template_Rating_Sheet-REV2009-10.pdf

Can we find out how we were reviewed?

Also, will we hear before April15?

Supposedly, we’re going to hear by “early April”, which I would assume to be before April 15. You’ll find out how well you were reviewed then, but I doubt they’ll release your actual evaluation.

Itheron,
When you log into Wolverine, what does it say?

just curious, because my page lists my
Credentials
Program Information
Academic Tests
Other Required Application Materials

that’s it.

Has anyone else STILL not heard back?
I applied on like January 23rd-ish and I’m getting super antsy!
Wahh!

On my “Admission Application Status” page, the only links are:
-View application data
-view credentials
-return to new & prospective student center
