[</em>]Personal Statement: I think they were pretty good. I wish I would’ve made them sound different, because when I read them back, they had similar endings, writing-wise. For the first one, I wrote about how the career I want to pursue stemmed from this online game I used to play when I was 10 (long, complicated story). For the second one, I wrote about how I used to love reading the “daily life” section of my history textbooks when I was younger, and how I got to learn a different culture first-hand through a home stay in Italy.</p>

<p>[/ul]General Comments: Really happy that I got in - UCSC is my safety school in terms of GPA, so I would’ve been disappointed if I was rejected… visited the campus last year on a long weekend and I loved how serene and peaceful SC seems.</p>

[<em>]Essays: I’d say pretty strong. I wrote about how moving to China changed my world and how seeing the differences in culture inspired me to learn about the world around me for the first essay. The second essay was about overcoming gender biases which exist in China, particularly in the pistolling community, and how becoming team captain had given me the confidence to pursue what I love and not let social norms restrict who I am.
