Official class of 2017 hopefuls thread

Hi, guys! I noticed that Dartmouth's forum doesn't have many threads or discussions, so I decided to start this one!

Who is a hopeful out there? Will you apply ED or RD? Why Dartmouth? Where else are you going to apply?

Maybe those are a lot of questions, but I think that talking here will be fun and comforting for most of us! At least we'll know we're not alone in this long and weird admission process. :)

You’re here as well! I’m applying RD. Why Dartmouth? They have an excellent undergraduate focus and a strong community (along with a picturesque location)

Ha-ha it seems that we like the same colleges @earthdancer7 ! Who knows, maybe we’ll end up in the same place next year!
Personally, I fell in love with Dartmouth recently. I was kind of thinking about HYP before, but when I saw Dartmouth location I just thought: “Oh my God, that’s wonderful!” and, as you said, the undergrad focus and the community seem GREAT too! In fact by now I’m sure to apply to both Dartmouth and Yale, and much less sure about other Ivies + Amherst

Hey guys! I remember seeing y’all in the Yale 2017 thread! Why Dartmouth? Same reasons: beautiful location, incredible undergrad focus and because I have a good feeling I’ll fall in love with the school after the Dartmouth bound summer program! Only a few days away!(:

Aww, you’re lucky! Then I want a report of everything ! :)

But of course. (:

It sounds like we are the only hopefuls here – well, apparently we’ll have less competition :D

Hey folks. Dartmouth is definitely at the top of my list; I think I’m going to go early decision. Personally I was really impressed with Big Green’s romance languages and business programs, and after touring I just loved the campus/atmosphere. I’m also looking at Penn, Georgetown, and UVA.

Dartmouth stands pretty high up on my list too. Gorgeous campus with the type of community I want.

Just kind of hesitant about Dartmouth not having a language I really wanted to pursue extensively (created a thread about that a while ago) and just the other usually more minor trade-offs one must make with smaller colleges.

Also big for me (at least, at the moment!) are Cornell and Duke.

Dartmouth definitely moved up my list too. I like how it’s very undergrad focused and the community seems really nice. I was rather dissapointed with the study abroad program though.

I’m debating doing ED, but am having a hard time choosing between Dartmouth Cornell and UPenn for ED. I’m probably going to try to stay overnight with a friend to really get the feel of the campus and make my decision easier.

I’m most likely applying to Cornell, UPenn, Dartmouth, and UChicago.

I’m thinking about applying to Dartmouth RD, and I probably will. Why? Perfect class size for me, the focus on undergrad, and the apparently amazing teaching I would receive there…

I’m applying to MIT, Cornell, CMU, Stanford, Princeton, and a few others…

I want to apply to Dartmouth RD, but I’m afraid that my parents won’t let me. My dad told me recently that my mom thinks if I apply to Dartmouth I shouldn’t apply to any other Ivies. This is quite troublesome, but hopefully I can work something out.

I mainly like Dartmouth’s campus and surrounding areas, as well as some of its humanities programs (though I’m planning to apply as a CS major everywhere, so they may not do me too much good).

I’m applying to Michigan, Texas, UIUC, Brown, Cornell, Swarthmore, UPenn, Johns Hopkins, Rice, possibly CMU, and one or two safeties.

I’m an international student, and Dartmouth is my 1st choice. No doubt.
As for the ED/RD I’m not so sure yet. I wouldn’t mind the whole binding contract issue but I don’t think I can manage getting everything ready till November.
I’m also applying to Brown, Amherst, UChicago, Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, WUSTL, Cornell, UMichigan+ 2 or 3 safeties.

If it’s any encouragement, the application is by far the easiest among most top tier schools.

Hi i am an asian student from south asia. My friend got admitted and he told me about Dartmouth. And then i was like WOW the college is the best for me. I am giving my SATs in a month and hope the CR works out well. Fingers crossed!!!
And i wanted to ask!!! will submitting a musical performance as a supplement help

@5Hl233 - it couldn’t hurt

Hi everyone! I’m from CA, and I really like the idea of Dartmouth’s community, undergraduate focus, and social atmosphere combined with academics  I’ll be applying RD. I’m also applying to UVA, UNC-CH, Stanford, Brown, Yale, Georgetown, Bucknell, the UC system, UW-Seattle, Rice, Duke, Tufts, William & Mary, and BC!

I couldn’t believe my blue eyes when I saw the supplement… no essay!!! (right?? i’m not crazy??)

Hi, I’m from East Asia (I know, there’re always too many of us sighs) and am applying ED, along with UChicago EA and Oxford. In RD I think I’ll go from top to bottom, quite literally, but I’m mainly interested in schools like Amherst. As to what attracts me to Dartmouth, I love the city of Hanover and the fact that Dartmouth focuses so much on undergrad education. I mean, it’s continuously ranked no.1 in the U.S. for a reason, right? I’m a little nervous at this point since past applicants from our school who were admitted were so competitive. Hope that applying ED will help me out, and really just praying that I’ll get into this wonderful school :)

Hi everyone! I’m from India and I’ll be applying RD. :)

I’ve started to fill out the commonapp supplement for Dartmouth, and where is the section where you turn in your personal statement? Am I missing something? haha thanks guys!
