Official Class of 2018 Thread

No, but I am applying EE. There’s two reasons – one is so they’ll see my senior grades which are an improvement from last year/my community college course is considered and the second is to compare financial aid packages.

I’m applying to Bowdoin ED2 if I get rejected by Wellesley. I really like both schools, and I might have applied to Bowdoin ED1 if I live in the US. I’m an international student so travelling is a problem for me… Don’t want another flight to Brunswick after a tiring 13 hour flight :slight_smile: Some of the other schools I’m applying to include Michigan, Colgate, UCB, UCLA, and Claremont McKenna.

Oh hey! I’m also planning on applying to Bowdoin ED2 if I’m not accepted to Wellesley! (Most of the people I talk to haven’t heard of either school, so this is a really exciting coincidence to me.) Are you interested in neuroscience, Softcalculator?

wow, there’s lots of people this year interested in neuroscience!

I applied as a neuroscience major. I’m especially interested in the computational track. Haha, read all about it since I used some of that stuff to say why I wanted to go to Wellesley.

Zzippo, nah, I’m a math/econ major… I’ve never thought of Neuroscience! A lot of teachers at my school graduated from Bowdoin (including my advisor), and I’ve heard good stuff about it. Especially the dorms!!! I can’t believe they provide you with a couch in the room lol! And the rooms are really big! I do pay a lot of attention to living condition lol. And it’s not too warm in spring/summer in Brunswick… Only downside would be traveling though. Wellesley and Bowdoin are in a consortium sort of thing and if I end up getting into one of them, I can always study at the other one for like a term or so :D

Wellesley actually has the highest number of female neuroscience majors!

The one bizarre thing to me about visiting Wellesley was that all but one of the dozens of other applicants I talked to want to study science or poli sci, while I’m interested in English and philosophy. Oh, the humanities! :D

I’m interested in English as maybe a minor (I love writing except for college essays lol). I’m excited because my high school’s English department is relatively weak.

Dang, Softcalculator, you must be somewhere really cold if you’re worried about Bruinswick being too warm… (Also, and I’m guessing you’ve heard about this but I’m telling you anyway b/c you didn’t list it with the living conditions, Bowdoin has really great food. I mean, that’s probably not the best reason to pick a college, but it certainly doesn’t hurt…)

I’m actually interested in double majoring in English and neuroscience. One of my favorite things about Wellesley is the opportunity to do both.

Zzippo: No, she was saying that it’s a negative that Brunswick isn’t warm in the winter :)

Hah, sorry I didn’t make myself clear… I was saying that I thought Brunswick would be cold (it’s Maine, duhhh), but my advisor told me that it’s actually not that cold because it’s close to the sea (something like that, I’m not very good at Geography)… And apparently it’s not going to be warm during spring and summer, so that’s a plus. I haven’t visited so I’m not quite sure either… I’ve lived in Connecticut for 3 years, so I’m fine with New England weather. And I heard Wellesley has great dorms too!

I think I like cold weather… I live in non-snowy California, but these past two weeks it’s been in the upper 20s during the morning, and I love it. But, that’s probably not even cold at all. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve gone to the snow before, just not for an extended period of time.

I have no idea where my coldest school is, I just know that near the ocean it tends to make the temperatures roughly the same year-round.

Wellesley has updated their “entering student” page for class of 2018! I assume all decisions have been made… and yeah. (Don’t even ask why I’m awake at 4 am… Hate my sleep schedule it’s a mess)

@softcalculator
Could i get the link?

@tenth2014

There you go. I think they only changed the title though… the orientation page is still “class of 2017”.

I’m so stressed out right now. 1/3 of me tells me that I need to freak out about this because I’m a really weak candidate for Wellesley, 1/3 of me tells me I’m actually qualified, and 1/3 of me tells me there’s no need to think about it and there’s nothing I can do right now. I can’t help it though :((
There should be a national holiday today or tomorrow for high school seniors who applied early decision.

@softcalculator
I totally agree! I’m so stressed I haven’t been able to sleep or focus on anything else. I know I don’t have a good chance of getting in but I’m still hopeful. I hope we all hear good news!

It’s also Friday the 13th tomorrow. We all need the luck. :P

It’s crazy to think that right now there’s someone out there who already knows whether we’re in or not.

I will most likely be pulling my hair out tomorrow out of anxiety hahaha… Does anyone know if they release the results exactly at 5 pm est? Or do they release starting from boston->Massachusetts->e. Coast…? So it might take a person on the west coast a while until they get their results?

I think the results are released at the same time, regardless your physical location. The server is likely to crash (even multiple times) though!

Wow, I didn’t even think about the server crashing… I’m on the west coast, and I have school tomorrow until 3 (unless we get another snow day), so I can’t even check it until an hour after they’ve been posted. I really hope it’s working then!
