** Official Class of 2018 University of Michigan EA Decisions Thread **

@JCooch

It obviously depends on the school. At a competitive school, I don’t think you need to be a Val/Sal. It seems as though being in the top 10% of your graduating class is more important.

a nod as in acceptance from U of M? yeah absolutely, 100 kids from my school have gotten in in past years (out of ~500 class size). A lot are really smart/hardworking, but a fair amount are your standard ann arbor stoners.

If you mean literal nods and acceptances, I provide and receive nods and glances to people who aren’t class presidents, so yes ? (maybe because we don’t have a class president but still, technicality)

@JCooch OOS are usually the last ones to find out! What are your stats by the way??

It really depends on the school. A lot of the highschools around the UofM, as long as you are in the top 15% you have a pretty good shot as these are the feeder schools

How do you check your application status? It doesn’t say anywhere on the website that my application is even being considered, just that all of the necessary info is in.

Did anyone in here get a 2400 or a 36? Or a 35 or 2300+? Just wondering…

@JCooch I was actually thinking the exact same thing today! Michigan looks at the student holistically but it almost seems to me that the only things that really matter are testing and GPA. Or maybe its all the crazy high, super qualified stats I see on CC. What does everyone else think?

@bottomcat aw man close, 35 superscored but 34 regular

Yeah, my high school is one of the top in Michigan, and almost everyone in the top 10% waltzed right in (with merit money). Your high school can be a help.

Good luck, guys! I hope you all get in and that next year you are relaxing after exams, as I am.

yeah, 2320 single sitting. (2nd try though)

@bleedblue1 since it’s a larger university they do tend to prize stats more than smaller colleges as the diversity is inherent because of U of M’s incredible size. However, rec letters and essays and extracurrics and leadership and everythin’ really is considered–the girl across the street from me got deferred because her essay for engineering didn’t express sufficient passion.

Just as a side note michigan oos tuitition is a lot more than 54,! My son is a junior just tuition was 48 room and board add another 15k - your closer to 70 - instate pays 0ne third that! But let me tell u - worth every penny!!

@startwithm damn, that’s pretty good.

what does WA mean this 12 olcok thing??

@wolverin15 uhh no ? [Tuition and Registration Fees - Office of the Registrar](Tuition & Fees | Office of the Registrar)

Is this midnight thing legit? Should I stay up?

@BottomCat

I have a 35 ACT but I don’t know what to expect, my school has only sent one student to Michigan in the past decade or so…

@bottomcat I don’t know if you meant my score or radical admission story/intel but thanks a bundles, hope we’re back on good terms E>

@allforthebest it is very unlikely that this midnight thing is legit but do as you please, I think of it like waiting for Santa/los tres reyes

@bottomcat
2350 1st sit :)

no one from my high school has EVER gone, and only a few people have been accepted. I wonder if this helps or hurts me?
