Is it harder to get in via Early Action or Regular Decision for out of state? (I got deferred)

Don’t quote me on this but i’m pretty sure the chance is the same; early action is purely for finding out sooner. A deferral doesn’t necessarily mean you have greater or lesser chance of making RD either.

Someone correct me if i’m wrong please

I agree. Just because you are deferred EA does not mean you have less of a chance with RD. As I understand it, they will re-evaluate your application just like all the other RD…treating you now like a RD… Basically you get a second look which is a good thing! I have a freshman D at UM who was initially deferred last year during EA but accepted during RD. I think the university likes to see the entire pool of candidates before selecting too many in EA. Your D still has a chance so don’t give up hope! Best of luck to her! :-)

I had to send in additional info because of my “course deficiency”. I should be getting a decision any day now.

Still questioning why me (and especially my friend) were deferred was it a lot harder to get in this year? any acceptance numbers out?

Accepted to LSA!!
GPA W: 4.06
5 APs
ACT: 29
12 varsity letters
5 seasons as captain
SGO VP
Many other EXs

ShortsSports were you deferred? I wasn’t, but I’m just wondering if they’ve started accepting those who were deferred?

My D was deferred and just received notice on WA in the last 24 hours that she was accepted to LSA. She did send an email to her admissions advisor expressing continued interest just last week.

I was deferred but now accepted yay

Accepted! So blessed to call Ann Arbor “home” for the next 4 years

Deferred, then accepted! I started crying when I got the email. Never would have guessed i would get an acceptance in January! Thought i had to wait until April!

can anyone provide an email address to email continued interest??? I can’t find one ANYWHERE and I’m truly getting desperate

oh wow now I feel dumb. But thank you SO much- you’re a life saver! Anyone have any tips on writing a good “continued interest” email?! It’s my first time!

hiiii, i didnt apply EA, but if i applied around mid-january to umichigan, when do you think i’ll hear back? around mid to late march? congrats to all who got in!! i’m super anxious to hear back!

So… EA kids who were deferred and already received acceptances: What’s your secret?! Did you write continuing interest letters?

Nope, no secrets. I think most of us that got accepted on Friday were on the border of getting accepted in EA.

Deferred and then accepted~ Seems like they view the preferred admission and early action/regular admission differently… Hope I could get into Ross~

Hey! I had got deferred by Umich in December. Since then WA isn’t asking me for any extra material but the
letter i had received did say that strong fall semester grades would help me stand out in the deferred pool! However, my grades dropped slightly in my fall semester and since then I have been in a dilemma on whether I should send them or no. Please help! thanks.

@Mercedes23 Im in the same boat as you. My senior overall average didn’t drop but my Calculus grade was awful and i don’t really want them seeing that. I think its better just to send in your grades and hopefully get a decision earlier, thats what I’m doing at least
