Going back to the topic of this thread…decisions. Have we ruled out the possibility that decisions could be released sometime Monday-Thursday? Everyone mentions Friday because of past years and “crashing the servers,” although classes are over with, and I doubt mass emailings (which the U does often, not only for admissions purposes) would actually crash the servers…

@umnr21 Sending emails can’t “crash their servers”. I assume an institution this large has a separate mail server, and it will be working as fast as it can to send outgoing mail, but it can’t exactly overload itself. More likely, their web servers with Wolverine Access on them will be under heavy load with a lot of incoming requests.

So many discrimination. Alright Illinois you defer me but accept someone at my school who is a total dumbly and just cause she a girl.

@pillagerguy So currently, there’s no reason to believe decisions will come out Friday any more than Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Especially considering the fact that the tradition of the Friday-after-classes-end-decisions-release-date has already been broken.

The 2013 kids in my class got their decisions the Thursday before break and my brother (2011) also heard the Thursday before break.
But a 2012 kid at my school didn’t hear until Christmas Eve and he got rejected

^my worst fear

I just hope to hear back soon
I got accepted into Purdue and deferred by U of I. I have finals Wed - Fri, so that’s enough stress as is.

is anyone else concerned with the fact that with an increase in applications umichs acceptance rate will decrease dramatically

Their acceptance % would decrease obviously, but the raw number of applicants admitted will stay roughly the same I’m guessing

I think that the target class size will stay approx. the same, so the overall acceptance rate will go down. Most likely there will be less RD kids admitted though, since they might not want drastic decreases in the EA acceptance rate.

I hope I get in. Then I wont have to leave state.

I hope I get in. Just got rejected from JHU so I am looking for some happiness haha

The acceptance rate should be under 30% for this year…

Below 30%? That’s crazy. 50% should be it.

I’m guessing 30-40%

Around 15,000 students are accepted each year. If the 30,000 EA number is true, total applications will easily be over 50,000. 15,000/55,000 = 27%
46k applied last year, and that was only with 22k EA.

Lol ohh well at the end of the day I am still alive if I dont get in

That’s the spirit
lol

As long as someone with worse crendentials dont get in I’m fine. Tired of this affirmative action b.s.

Does Michigan use AA? It’s a public school, if they do I doubt they will say that they do lol. They’ll deny it. But I don’t think it’s a big competition. Just because one person got in doesn’t mean that person took your spot haha
