** Official Class of 2018 University of Michigan EA Decisions Thread **

^ calm down mate we are all like that but really if you already got into a safety school you should not be nervous at all. Should not depend it all on one really prestigious school like Umich you should always have a backup. No need to worry with your stats youll get in somewhere most likely.

Let’s use this forum for its intended purpose and not to discuss your respected high school or classes.

^ yeah im fairly new here so i just say away. Ill keep that in mind

Expect decisions to be out Monday - Friday most likely. or maybe even the december 20th but should get it before december 24

My high school has a really flawed spam email filter that accidentally deleted my confirmation email (although I saw the subject so I know I made the deadline for EA). Could someone please just copy/paste the text here?

@hurricane you can either get an email that said you will get a decision by the 24th or in mid January

Well i just check the old official class of 2017 and they got their umich decisions back at 12/14/12 at around 4:30ish pm eastern time

That means there is a load of applicants this year which is most likely holding them back. Maybe they come out today at 4:30??? Maybe tomorrow at 4:30???

It isn’t necessarily 4:30. Some people found out at around 6 & 9

Yes but around that time. I hope it comes out today.

again, the applications come out in waves across the stretch of three days; the first wave should be M-F this week, but the exact times–and even date–will vary per individual. Additionally, the waves are completely random in terms of admit/defer/reject so don’t freak out about that (or anything bcuz you all are fabulous woo yay).

(earlier, I was addressing the fact that our lives will be okay without getting into UM, not the economic situation of the United States, thanks for the hate tho)

If I get deferred from UM my parents are going to make my life hell until (if) I get accepted in RD

From the looks of the e-mail screenshot of last year. You will know your decision before you open your e-mail because of the preview. Why does it have to be like this?!

Whyyyy does Michigan have to play hard to get?

I want my decision :’(

I called the admissions office earlier today, and they said that decisions may come out until early-mid January 2014 because of the high volume of applicants, so December 24th is not necessarily the last date that decisions will come out.

I think that only applies to the people who got the email stating so

^but they guaranteed a decision by 24th… why would they do such a thing? then where is the point of applying early if we will not know it before the RD deadline of other schools :S

Georgia Tech did the same thing… They were supposed to release decisions on the 21st, but due to the influx of applications that came with joining the Common App they had to postpone the date TWO WEEKS until January 4

Well, at least Georgia Tech actually announced the extension. Umich still keeps repeating the same thing, 24th at the latest, with no other details. Except for the poor people who had problems qualifying for EA - they probably won’t get it until January…

Based on what @startwithm said a few pages back:

“my physics teacher is friends with an admissions reader and apparently they (as of Friday) were cross-checking the applications to make sure they didn’t accidentally accept/deny anyone.”

I’m thinking decisions could be out as soon as Wednesday. Cross-checking sounds like the last stage in the process and it shouldn’t take too long, so to me, Wednesday seems like a reasonable date
