I did it last week and I am yet to recieve a password
@nfhd11214367p0i their website states that we should receive an email with our NU ID within seven days of submitting the application. So hopefully it should be coming soon for you.
Does anyone know how Northeastern usually treats legacy applicants? I posted my stats earlier in the thread, but I’m applying ED and my dad is a legacy from NU’s graduate program. How, if at all, does this affect my chances?
Little of no benefit to be legacy.

Bad or Good Chances? And is ED going to give a big push
international student applying ED…decision comes out on my birthday…12/15
Just received my official application acknowledgment with portal log in information! I see my counselor and teacher haven’t sent in the forms yet which is a bit concerning- the deadline is less than two weeks away! But they’re probably both busy and will hopefully send them in soon.
@bhsu168 my friend is also applying ED… and his birthday is 12/15 as well. wow.
EA applicant here. Anyone here sending their mid-semester report card grades? Not sure if Northeastern looks at that.
Applying EA for political science and/or related majors. Will be sending off my application within a week or so.
SAT: 2330

GPA: school doesn’t do US GPA, but my GC had to calculate this for National Merit applications (NMSF) and it was 3.9+
No AP classes (full IB school)
White male (US dual national)
ECs are really good (a few regional/national awards), teacher recommendations will be strong, but I’m not going to self-rate my common app essay more than a 7/10.
What do you people think the odds are of my getting a scholarship (or some merit aid at the very least)? My parents wouldn’t like to pay $200,000 for college if there’s any way they can avoid it - I’ve got two brothers who’ll be in college before long, and their schools aren’t liable to be cheap either (we’re OOS everywhere in the US).
@shtang I think if your grades are in by this point, your school would likely send them off.
@notverysmart You are national Merit Semi-Finalist, right? I’m guessing that if you are accepted, they have to give you the $30K National Merit scholarship… but that is assuming you are accepted.
Can other NEU experts out there confirm this? If an applicant is Accepted, and they do get NMF- NEU ‘has’ to offer that scholarship? (I know they may choose not to admit- that’s a different thing).
@suzyQ7 I’m a semifinalist, but I don’t yet know if I’ll be a finalist. The odds are good (15,000 of 16,000 semifinalists make finalist), but I’m not going to count my chickens before they’re hatched.
The Northeastern site says “Students who are admitted to Northeastern and are recognized as National Merit Finalists or National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars will receive up to $30,000 merit based award per academic year.” I’m wondering how they’d determine where I land on the “up to $30,000” continuum, and what my odds would be of getting merit aid outside of NMF if semifinalist status is the end of the road for me.
I think the ‘up to 30K’ means that they can change that amount any time for ALL NMF… not that, in the same year, they give 30K to some NMF and less than that to others. I don’t think you can stack merit at NEU. $30K appears to be the highest you can get, unless you are offered NU Scholar.
Congrats on NM S-Finalist. Your stats look great! I think you are a match with NEU.
If you are a NMF, you will get the 30k. It’s weirdly worded on the scholarship page, but it’s guaranteed.
@NotVerySmart - What do you have in terms of ECs? If they match your stats, you could be in competition for University Scholars.
Sent in my application today
SAT: 2130
GPA: 3.77 UW & 4.46 W
Good luck to you all!
