Official Class of 2020 Northeastern University Early Decion/Early Action Discussion

@senioritis07 @dorothylewes good to see you all as well from the Cornell thread, thought I’d just check in here, luckily my good decision was made last Thursday :). Wish you all best of look

If anyone is wondering about how a few Bs will affect you…
I got three B-s last semester after getting straight A/A-s every other semester. I was still accepted to honors with a generous scholarship. I think having a few (relatively) poor grades is okay, as long as you demonstrate that it’s an outlier, not a pattern. I also wrote about it in the additional info section.

EA. Deferred from the business school. GPA 3.8 UW, ACT 31. Many ECs, AP’s and honors

Does anyone know the % of deferred applicants who get in? Are 1st semester grades a big factor because 1st semester is already over for me…

Okay, I don’t know what the fuss about SAT/ACT is. I’m an international student and technically SAT isn’t supposed to be considered by NEU for international but I still sent in my scores. My SAT is terrible at 1870 (composite) but I got admitted to D’Amore McKim purely based on my academic scores and common app. I’m in the top 1% of my entire state in India and am also a gap year student with strong extracurriculars. Congratulations to everybody who got in, and don’t fret it. Standardized testing will never decide your fate.

Does anyone know if it’s easier for a female to get into the computer science school? and is it competitive?

accepted with 37k of merit aid per year :)))))
2190 SAT, 3.9 GPA, good ecs

@senioritis07 are u still hoping on Cornell? Cause I am  idk how many defers they will take tho

@collegesucks were you accepted to the Scholars program with full tuition?

I know some EA’s were given decisions today.

Posting for my D: Admitted to Communications. 2120 SAT. 3.94 UW GPA. NMSF. Very strong ECs. Minnesota.

Accepted into the Honor’s College at the College of Engineering!
International student from the UAE…
33 ACT, 3.83 GPA, really good ECs (sports, leadership at school), and a pretty decent essay. 20k/year Dean’s scholarship

My daughter go accepted into College of Engineering (CS major). SAT 2230, not much ECs except learning Indian classical dance, good essay. We are from India.

EA. 3.7 UW GPA 2140 SAT Deferred

I feel so discouraged and insecure, thanks NEU. I really want to know why I wasn’t good enough.

Is there an accepted group on Facebook for Northeastern students?

To all of you who think scores were the bottom line, their not. I got accepted to the College of Science for Biology with a 1790/2400 on the Sat. It was really unexpected.

@Senioritis07 I also got accepted! Electrical Engineering. Got International Scholarship- $ 20000 per year.

My daughter was accepted into the Honors Program. Computer Science major from Texas.
ACT: 35
GPA: 4.9 (weighted), 3.4 (unweighted)
Dean’s Scholarship $18,000/year ($72,000 total)

Not enough merit aid to make the school a reasonable choice for her, but she was still glad to get accepted especially into Honors.

@starry900 Are you international?
