@horchataman I think you have a good chance for Northeastern. I wonder if your father being a professor helps with admission–I hope so! You should have no problems getting into UMass Amherst/Wentworth/Drexel, I’m unfamiliar with the others though. Good luck!
Hey guys, I haven’t really posted much in the NU forum haha.
Anyways, I applied EA and I’m starting to worry that my SAT score isn’t high enough for Northeastern.
Judging from last years ED/EA thread, it seems that Northeastern is becoming far more competitive.
I’m applying from NY (Boston born though) and my SAT score is in the 2200s. Do you guys think it’s likely that I’ll get deferred?
TL;DR Please don’t defer me NU :))
If your GPA is as good as your SAT and you have shown interest you have a high chance of admission.
@NotAMathlete are you actually concerned an SAT score in the 2200’s will get you deferred…
i applied EA, just wondering is 31 ACT a god score for the school of science?
I was reading last years ED/EA thread and quite a lot were deferred, even the ones with good stats…
You haven’t looked through the ED/EA thread from last year/ There were a lot of surprised applicants, some were quite indignant.
Does anyone have any insight on whether or not it would help to upload another essay to supplement my application on the “Application Status Check” page? An essay is one of the documents they list to potentially submit, and I have a very good one I could use. Anyone have any idea if this would help in any way? Thanks
@piant1 Haha, the concern only came up after reading through the ED/EA thread from last year, in which a fairly large number of 2200 and even a 2300 and a national merit finalist (if I remember correctly) were deferred.
Personally, I hadn’t been too worried, but after seeing some surprising deferrals and rejections I realized that I might need to re-take my SAT in case I get deferred.
Also. . .I think in general it seems that NU is getting to be far more competitive than it has been in the past. . .
Edit: Just wanted to clarify that I don’t think a 2200 is bad. In fact, I’m pretty proud of my score considering I have a pretty serious learning disorder, but have to take all standardized tests sans accommodations.
@Amrfootball I don’t think theres any harm in sending in another essay if u like it…but I have a question is it bad that I just recently uploaded my resume onto the Application Status Check page?
@NotAMathlete @TomSrOfBoston I guess maybe I didn’t come off right. I meant that a 2200’s score doesn’t guarantee you’ll get in, but it’s a little blah that someone with a top 1-2% is worried about it being a disadvantage…I’m sure those people with those stats got rejected maybe for being too lazy with ECs, seemed fake, or came off arrogant/rude, didn’t have good grades, didn’t hard take classes, or basically anything that isn’t their SAT score.
@misschoding Not to creep, but are you applying to Wellesley? ? ? (If you are, I am too! :))
Edit: @piant1 Haha, ok. I hope I clarified enough so that I didn’t end up coming off as arrogant or anything. I’m just another super anxious senior haha. (emphasis on the super)
@TomSrOfBoston could you give me your opinion on my question plz
@NotAMathlete You’re good! Sorry if I came off rude too, I might be little bitter about things like that because of some people at my school who do not understand how qualified they are and complain about it to everyone, not just qualified people…
@helloworld148 It won’t hurt and it is one way of showing that you are really interested in Northeastern. I have no idea where they are in the decision process though.
Based on last year ED decisions will be coming out next Tuesday 12/8. But Northeastern has changed announcement patterns in the past.
@TomSrOfBoston I did EA…but i should good then right? cuz most of the things on resume were on my common app so I didn’t think its a big deal but still I was a lil worried
And btw what did you mean by it is one way of showing that you are really interested in Northeastern… the fact that i recently submitted the resume or the resume as a whole?
@NotAMathlete hahaha yeah!
@TomSrOfBoston I was hoping that you, or anyone else, could give me your opinion on whether or not I will be accepted based on my credentials.
