@sugarlicious No, I haven’t received a letter yet. I only saw the acceptance through the portal. But the letter should come pretty soon I think.
Son admitted EA to computer science program (2350 SAT, decent but not great grades at competitive private school). Received snail mail confirm yesterday, but consisted of nothing more than marketing brochure and welcome letter with signatures from what appears to be entire admissions staff.
@BostonDad2 Did he get any aid or merit? Congrats!
Mail just came with Northeastern “Next Step” package. Son not home yet so I have to wait to see what’s in it.
Son did get merit money, but if he attends assume/expect it will be superseded by National Merit 30K we understand NU offers
has anyone from ca gotten their mail yet?
NEU deferred a lot of applicants from China (international students)… And the accepted students have low test scores like 1800+ while high test scores applicants are deferred … don’t understand haha
@senioritis07
I did!!!
@scyinpiano It’s always harder for international students to get in, because they’ll be taking the spots away from domestic applicants.
@senioritis07 I got it a few days ago.
I was deferred and they said to check the Application Status Check after January 1st to see if they still needed anything from me. It still hasn’t changed for me and it still has the letter saying I was deferred. Does this mean they don’t need anything from me or has it just not updated yet?
They have been closed since Christmas Eve and reopen tomorrow.
I was deferred, and I’m really confused as to why!

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: no idea! i’m very confused and my confidence is shaken because northeastern wasn’t a reach. If anyone sees anything I can improve upon, I’d appreciate the feedback, especially since northeastern is a top choice for me!
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: accepted to tulane, accepted to binghamton, deferred from cornell
Kids with 4.0 UNweighted and higher SATs were deferred. Don’t let it shake you. You were not rejected.
@emily33 Was Northeastern your “safety”?
I see that you were accepted at Tulane with a Presidential scholarship.
@TomSrOfBoston in terms of acceptance, i thought it would be more of a safe option. it’s still one of my top choices though, and if i got in i’d seriously consider attending!
@Emily33 . Great Stats! The only reason I believe is because of the number of applications and seeing that you are from NY. being from states such as NJ, NY, Ct, Ma. They are regionally at a disadvantage. NU has had a huge uptick the last few years due to their coop program thus they are working to develop a global presence. They are probably working on a balance from all 50 states. my two sense… Good luck!
@tronneutron that makes sense. that’s very reassuring, thank you!
Does anyone know if Northeastern would superscore multiple act submissions?
Yes, Northeastern superscores.
