Well, at an approx 30% acceptance rate that would be about 15,000. I thought I read or heard they were accepting 8500-9000 but that may be just from the RD pool. Amazing how many students all colleges need to accept to get even small freshman classes, like BC. The competition, the cost, the travel I’m sure are deciding factors. I know it will be for our son.
Hi everyone, my son’s GC forwarded me the email she received from Northeastern before decisions were released on Tues. Its says there were 51,000+ applications submitted, 4.2 avg. gpa, 1452 avg. sat, 28% admit rate. Also says, “we had to make fine distinctions among many exceptional candidates. In some school groups, it is possible for applicants with similar academic profiles to receive very different admission decisions. Our decisions are a reflection of the quality and size of the applicant pool within the context of the university’s enrollment goals.” In my opinion, at these selective schools, it is a very difficult job to select applicants. My son was waitlisted at BC. No worries, but it’s interesting how NEU admitted him and fully met our demonstrated need while BC waitlists him. And there are many wonderful students who were admitted to BC and denied at NEU that had very similar statistics as my son. It really can go either way at target schools on a student’s list.
I agree @Winky1 , I was accepted to NEU but rejected from BC so it just depends on what they see they need at the time of applications.

@searchingmom It was a merit scholarship!
How are merit scholarships decided? My kid applied RD, got notified in early Feb of acceptance but no merit.
I got accepted with $51,765 in financial aid/merit scholarship
these are my stats. I honestly think admission to these competitive universities is a crapshoot; I got denied at both Boston University and Boston College, but I’ve met people accepted to both of those universities but denied at Northeastern. Best of luck to everyone, there is a school for you!

Community Service: 40 hours a year; I teach an ESL class at a local church and tutor students at my school that can’t afford professional help.
I applied RD for Physical Therapy and was rejected. I have a 3.75 UW/ 4.61 W GPA and stellar grades with 7 AP courses (all with A’s) but my SAT score was an 1800 (super scored) because I’m a horrible test taker (especially standardized tests). I am a Silver Knight Candidate from Florida, a Hispanic female, and have 1300+ community service hours. I also got declined from Boston University and Boston College. All the other colleges that I applied to were reaches: Tulane, Brown, Dartmouth, UVA. So I basically got into 0 of my colleges. I have some safety schools that I applied to, but they are not my ideal colleges. It seems they will be my only options. I’m devastated because I have literally worked my butt off for 4 years and to no success. At all. I was not even wait-listed, just flat out rejected. Idk what to do at this point but to leave it all in God’s hands.
@goldenchina Did you visit BU northeastern or interact with them at college fairs or via email? They both look to demonstrated interest in admissions.
@suzyQ7 I did. I visited BU and BC and talked to BU, BC, and Northeastern at college fairs. I emailed a BC and northeastern representative through email but the BC one never answered and the NU one just answered once and then stopped replying.
@goldenchina I was waitlisted at BU, rejected from BC, and got into the NUin program. I know how it feels to not get into colleges you feel like you deserve to be admitted to. I live right outside Boston so it definitely played a factor for me as it gets really competitive. You will end up where you are meant to be according to Jeremiah 29:11
@Lana22 aww thanks. I loved the Bible verse! Did you apply to the NUin program or did they just pick you?
they picked me!
@Lana22 I received the same exact decisions from those schools too!
Has anyone received their admissions packet yet? I got an email about it last Wednesday but haven’t received anything yet.
Got it yesterday
@karlmarx2020 if you don’t mind me asking, what state are you in?
TN
@karlmarx2020 great, thanks so much!
Rejected after deferral; 2120 SAT and 4.2 GPA… Was accepted to BC and BU, so I’m a little thrown off by the rejection, but congrats to those accepted!! and as for my fellow rejectees, good luck with the rest of your decisions, i’m sure you’ll end up somewhere you’ll be happy!
