OFFICIAL Class of 2021 Michigan State University Admissions/Acceptance Thread

My daughter just accepted too! We’re OOS, but I’m an alumni so she’s very excited to be accepted and hear so soon. Applied 9/8 with 4.2 gpa and 33 ACT. Go Green and good luck to everyone!

My daughter’s application was complete by Sept. 1, and we heard today, so I imagine you’ll hear within a week, latest. Good luck.

Daughter just texted me. She has been accepted to MSU. She has a W GPA 3.7 and was a 1210 old SAT (CR & Math) and a 26 ACT. Education major. MSU is OOS for us but one of her top three choices. Looking forward to our official visit and tour in a few weeks.

Applied 9/2, accepted for Political Science/Pre-law this morning!

OOS
ACT 34, W GPA 4.1, 3 APs (all 5s)
EC: Mock Trial, Young Democrats, Harvard Model Congress, Speech and Debate

Accepted this morning as well. Does anyone know when/how we will receive information about scholarships and honors college? Thanks!

I applied on September 9th and was accepted today!
In state / 3.9 UW / 29 ACT / 6 APs

ACCEPTED TODAY!!! Congrats everyone!

@microssrunner17 The Honors College website says it reviews accepted students and begins extending invitations approximately 8 weeks after acceptance. So more waiting…

Got in today! 34 ACT 3.84 W GPA In-state
James Madison btw

They started reviewing my app yesterday, anyone know how long the wait is until I find out??

To clarify what squarerootof64 is saying…

How long does it take to get an admission status after the online portal says “Your application is currently under consideration with your reviewing counselor. You will receive an initial decision on your application for admission within 12 weeks. Your patience during the review process is greatly appreciated.”

I had all of my materials submitted Sept 30. For those that have been accepted, how long between this statement saying they’re reviewing and actually getting a decision?

I got the exact same status update this morning as well!! All documents were recieved by sept 22. Hopefully we find out what are decision is soon and not 12 weeks from now.

@msu2021 I didn’t check my portal except for about a week before my decision and when I got it, and I never saw it say anything about a counselor looking at it. I believe that the timing of your decision all depends on how fast your admissions person is. I’ve heard that different people are assigned to different regions, so it depends on their speed.

D was accepted earlier this week!

Have you heard anything yet? @msugirl2021

@squarerootof64 No  not yet. I’m in state by the way. You?

Same @msugirl2021

HERE IS OUR MESSAGE as of October 5:

"Thank you for your patience and continued interest in Michigan State University. An initial review of your application indicates you are a competitive applicant to MSU. Due to an increase in the quantity and quality of freshman applications, the Office of Admissions requires additional time to thoroughly review all applicants before making a final decision.

Admissions decisions will be released on a rolling basis, beginning in mid-October 2016. You will receive a decision on the status of your application on or before March 17, 2017.

No additional documents are required. The most up-to-date information will be posted to your account as soon as it becomes available. Students will be notified by email when a change occurs on your account.

Thank you again for your patience."

What does this mean? Is this deferred? Application submitted in August and only friends with very high grade/score have been accepted already. Also - -A new document to be completed appeared: “MSU Student Background and Experiences Inventory”
