All my materials were finally received earlier this week… what are the odds I hear back by Thanksgiving? I believe I am a competitive applicant.
My OOS daughter received an invitation to join the Honors College and was awarded the tuition grant and a professorial assistantship. She is excited!
what were her stats if you dont mind me asking?
Unweighted GPA 3.76, weighted GPA 4.08, ACT 33, school does not rank. She is out-of-state.
Just came back from an amazing visit! Waiting to hear on merit - OOS so fingers crossed. We were told scholarships awarded starting Thanksgiving week. I see some awarded Tuition Grant - did that come with acceptances and what exactly is the tuition grant?
Scholarships are already being sent out. Tuition grant is OOS scholarship.
@monjmom Was your daughter offered a spot in the honors college? Most of the scholarships I’ve seen so far are related to HC acceptances, I believe. Others will follow hopefully.
ACCEPTED! 30 ACT, 1370 SAT, 3.7 weighted GPA. Strong EC’s, good essay. LOR’s…
@bigMACguyver I went to the admissions preview yesterday and we were told, both by the director and a guy in the FinAid office that regular scholarship info will be sent out December/January
@bigMACguyver - no my daughter not Honors College. I see on website she should qualify for $8,000/year for merit, however, with a $47K price tag, hoping for more. Does anyone know more about their scholarships. We filed FAFSA, but there’s no way we’ll qualify for any aid. Hoping to bring costs down a bit below $40K. Daughter absolutely loved and I loved it too. Could totally see her there.
Accepted a few weeks ago! Applied Premedical (late August) 4.0 UW / 4.114 W, 1310 SAT, 4 AP’s, solid extracurriculars,
Kind of an update on my situation, not that it really matters, but I’ve changed my major from MechE to Neuroscience (I know, total 180). Really excited to attend.
S was accepted last Friday–very excited since I’m an alum! He’s a James Madison Major, and hopes to add Economics as a 2nd major.
His application was in on 10/31 with all supporting docs in by 11/3 (I think…) He’s OOS, 95.5 WGPA, 93.7 UWGPA, IB diploma program with 4 additional AP classes, 10/160 class rank, 1340 SAT, lots of EC (sports, mock trial, model UN), community service, etc.
We’re waiting to hear on scholarships and Honors College, although he’s probably a better match for the Academic Scholars program. He’ll need some scholarships to be able to attend, but we’re hopeful…
