Official Class of 2021 Northeastern University Early Decision/Early Action Discussion

why do you guys think it will be thursday?

It was on the eighth last year.

2011 had the same calendar as this year and according to the thread that year they got theirs on Thursday the 8th

There was no ED in 2011.

@TomSrOfBoston oh really my bad…i must have misread

will it be at 7pm on thursday?

At this point no one knows.

6 more weeks of winter - the next date that would follow any sort of pattern would be next Tuesday, but no one knows, as Tom said.

I seriously can’t handle the suspense anymore. Do most people really get deferred?

@urashimataro - yes, they do. Northeastern tries to equalize ED, EA, and RD admissions. Since their admissions rate is about 28%, and they usually don’t reject in ED/EA, you can expect (assuming you are a completely average candidate for admission) a 72% chance of being rejected.

*deferred, not rejected, sorry!

Yes, absolutely… but that said, nobody publishes data on the entire applicant pool, so we have no way of knowing what a “completely average candidate” for NU, or any particular college, looks like.

I mean, you definitely have a higher chance of getting in when applying ED, then applying EA or RD. If they were equal then what would be the point of applying for a binding decision?

Northeastern has stated that they try to equalize EA and RD acceptance rates. They never mentioned ED.

If you get deferred, how long would it take to get a final answer?

Mid-March 2017

I know it’s not all numbers, but does anyone know what the stats profile was for EA admits last year?

@binky17 Northeastern doesn’t provide separate EA statistics.

Thanks @jillpnk any guesses?

No idea, sorry! It seems like a lot of people get deferred in EA but that is just anecdotal. I have no idea what the actual stats are.
