I’m so happy right now! I was DEFERRED, but I literally have the worst of statistics. I’m going to be up front with you: I have terrible grades lol.
Criminal justice and psychology major, 3.2 or even lower UW GPA. ACT is a 31. Applicant from CA. I’m so surprised. I never thought I could even be considered with my stats.
Yay!!! I got deferred for Health Science from PA. You may ask why I am excited for this, but give me a minute.
My counselor heard the decision from the NEU office earlier this week, but was waiting for it to be official. In essence, they read for different things in RD. So I am excited to work with admissions officers more, and to not have been denied at this point. Really trying for N.U.in.
Stats:
3.9 UW
1470 SAT
30 ACT
Very good essay (proclaimed by 3 college counselors, 2 lawyers, and 2 english teachers)
Dedicated community service
International Peace Project with Northern Ireland
3 IB 2 year HL’s (Math, Biology, English)
3 AP’s (Calc, Physics, Chemistry)
Life long equestrian, summer job for coach
Also accepted to Tulane EA.
Not really sure why I included stats, but oh well.
@shelleyr25 Interesting. I wonder how they chose between NUin and deferred admission. It seems like there were so many deferrals. I would much rather have been admitted NUin than deferred.
I hit the button to accept being deferred, and then I tried logging in again and it’s as if my decision letter never existed. Is this normal? Will I be able to see my deferred letter in 24 hours?
Any info about when others will be notified about honors if at all? I heard that some colleges within NEU wait until after the RD round to admit to the honors college, but those may just be rumors. Anyone have answers? I’m specifically talking about the college of social sciences and humanities.
@macaronnie Regarding merit aid: when you go onto the page that says “Congratulations macaronie”, on the left side under “Download your decision documents” there is a list of documents. On my D’s, “Scholarship” is listed there - it’s a separate letter that explains the scholarship amount and guidelines in detail. It’s also included in the Financial Aid documents, along with any need-based grants.
So theoretically, If someone were to get a $27k scholarship, is it possible to get more need-based grants that do not go over $27k? For example, if someone gets $27k and then “deserves” (based on CSS profile and financial need) $10k ,would that equal $37k total grant money a year? Or would it remain $27k?
