Wow. I’m stunned by 1) I was offered priority waitlist (I accepted) and 2) the amazing FA offer in need-based grants.
My financial aid has not shown up yet. Should I wait before contacting their office?
@MrElonMusk - my son also got PWL. Do you know if there are two lists - PWL and WL? because from what I can see in CC, everyone got PWL
@4boyzsmom Let me clarify. Carnegie Mellon gave me the option to join the priority waitlist; I could’ve gone onto the regular waitlist if I wanted to.
I honestly think everyone got the priority waitlist option.
use your original student id number for FA. they give a new one in the letter, but it does not work with that id. the portal showed everything with the original student id.
@Mispollitas00 Neither my new Id or or my common app if works for the financial aid
Accepted!! I was offered a considerable amount of FA compared to what I thought I would get. It was non-renewable grant money mostly.
Major: Design and Production (School of Drama)
GPA: 4.0 (unweighted), 4.76 (weighted)
APs: 9 total
SAT: 1370 (superscore)
Is anyone else having an issue with seeing their financial aid?
If anyone could help me out it’d be great. I got in and I indicated I was applying for FA but I only sent my FAFSA there, didn’t bother to send anything else. Is it too late? Can I call them and ask them if it’d be possible to send my stuff in late? My household income is like 300k+ so I doubt it’d even be worth it.
Ugh. My other option is UC Berkeley which is a great school, but I really wanted CMU. No way are my parents gonna shell out this money.
@rosaliefontaine Call them. It won’t hurt to do so.
Does anyone know how the FA appeals process works at CMU/ if you can get them to match offers?
Specifically for a music student but just curious
@turnerk. Call them up. They will walk you through process.
S18 waitlisted for engineering.
Is it worth waiting on the priority wait list? If no hope then want to go ahead and commit to a college now.
I heard only 4-7 people get off so I doubt that it’s worth waiting for.
Carnegie Mellon stated in their FAQs that “Historically, we were able to admit around 35 students from the Waiting List.”

@gatechhopeful18 Please read this thread on waitlists: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/2068808-waitlist-what-is-it.html#latest
How do you submit the tax return and W2 after submitting CSS?
Just so you know, because the yield was so high last year, the acceptance rate was much lower this year. Some people that would have been accepted last year were put on the waitlist this year. If you are on the waitlist, have hope, as they may have made the acceptance rate too low this year.
@tcw111 that makes me very happy to hear as for some reason i was WL here while rejected from two (!) 30% acceptance rate schools.
@tcw111 what was the acceptance rate for last and this year?
