I'll post my stats shortly. Official threads were extremely helpful for me as an applicant, so I want to extend that assistance to other CC lurkers. I'd also love to meet other prospies!

Decision: Accepted

Objective:[ul]
[] ACT: 28.
[] SAT II: 700 US History, 740 Lit.
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.4, unweighted.
[] AP (place score in parenthesis): 5 APLC, 5 APUSH.
[] Senior Year Course Load: Four APs and a skipped year of a foreign language - fairly rigorous, but my curriculum isn’t as intense as the schedules of other CCers.
[] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): First in English studies out of my entire class, along with various art/writing/Model UN awards.

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Editor in Chief of my school’s literary magazine, general editor/contributor to two other school publications, Social Action Vice President of Jewish reform youth group, NFTY, Model UN delegate, Film Club participant, forum roleplayer (yeah, yeah I’m a geek), assorted others.
[] Job/Work Experience: I’m a paid classroom assistant at my synagogue.
[] Volunteer/Community service: The Social Action Vice President role is community-service based - I create/lead my youth group’s service programs. My community service opportunities outside that were pretty sporadic and based in youth group activities, so to be totally honest I haven’t kept track of my hours.
[] Summer Activities: Writing camp! I was a participant in Teen Ink’s Young Writers program and the Kenyon Review’s Young Writers Workshop.
[] Essays: It centered my relationship with internet penpals around the world. I actually switched to another essay entirely in later applications because I felt this essay wasn’t as strong. My Why Wooster essay must’ve been well received.
[] Teacher Recommendation: I waived my right of access. I’m assuming it was solid.
[] Counselor Rec: ^
[] Additional Rec: My boss sent a recommendation on my behalf. It was lovely.
[li] Interview: Went extremely well. I talked about Game of Thrones and Issac Asimov with my interviewer for longer than we talked about Wooster/my resume.
[/li]

[/ul]Other[ul]
[] State (if domestic applicant): NY
[] School Type: High-ranking public.
[] Ethnicity: White as Wonderbread.
[] Gender: Female.
[] Income Bracket: Upper middle class.
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): I don’t think being Jewish counts as a hook anymore.

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Extracurriculars, essays, recommendations, SAT II scores.
[] Weaknesses: GPA, ACT.
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Extracurriculars for sure, also because my personality seems to fit the school.
[/li]

[/ul]General Comments:
I’m not terribly shocked that I was accepted, but I AM surprised that I received the Dean’s Scholarship for 20,000 dollars a year. I feel extremely thankful and blessed that money isn’t a concern for my family any longer, especially since COW’s one of my favorite schools. I will most likely attend if my top, ED-choice doesn’t work out.

Best of luck to everyone!

great school, best of luck!

[li] Senior Year Course Load: 1 Regular class, 2 APs, Rest honors.
[/li]

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Good leadership
[] Job/Work Experience: Not the best
[] Volunteer/Community service:Not the best
[] Summer Activities:Not the best
[] Essays: Very Good
[] Teacher Recommendation: Very Good
[] Counselor Rec: Excellent

[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity:White
[] Gender: Male

[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Languages(Maybe), High demonstrated interest

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Classes, Interest, Languages.
[] Weaknesses: Community service, lack of extracurricular
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Demonstrated interest, would be in upper 75% of admitted based on scores
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: No other responses yet (wasn’t expecting any yet)

[/ul]General Comments: Good luck to everyone else! Wooster is really the school that I feel will fit me most.

I was also just accepted EA with a very generous dean’s scholarship of 22,000 per year. COW is one of my top choices and the money certainly makes it even more attractive, but I live in NY and it would be about a nine hour drive so there will definitely be a family conversation about it before a decision is reached. I haven’t visited yet though (planning to in February) and I was wondering if anyone could share some about their visit experience? Thanks!

My child and spouse visited this fall, and the school received rave reviews. Very friendly staff and students, students seemed very happy, extremely clean, well-planned campus, much attention to detail. Accessible faculty. Words and phrases used to describe it included “awesome” and “a hidden gem.” It makes a very, very positive impression; I would encourage you and your family to make the time to visit.
