@kbn2015 I think your letter of continued interest is both: academic and extra-curricula updates and ‘why columbia?’. Just my guess
Anyone know the earliest date they have notified waitlisted people?
while they said they will “keep in touch” w us thru email in the upcoming weeks…
and since Columbia said we should submit our LOCI by May 1, it just means that they will not review our applications till then… so there’s no need to submit anything in a rush
Do you guys think we can send a second update later on? Like maybe right before the first round?
@sulfuoco at Barnard you take classes at Columbia and Columbia students take classes at Barnard, so it not really an “all-girls” atmosphere. Columbia students who major in architecture, dance, and a few other majors take their major classes at Barnard actually, and Barnard students majoring in CS and other more science focused majors take their major classes at Columbia.
Plus, you can join clubs/societies at Columbia from Barnard. If the “all-girls” thing worries you, you can also join a CU sorority. Plus, at Barnard you graduate at CU graduation and get a degree from Columbia. It’s a really unique school and experience!! Definitely don’t be worried about the feeling of big university vs small women’s college. Barnard is super flexible and 100% what you make of it. You are also in NYC which has tons of opportunities and exciting things to do.
Current Columbia student here! Undergraduate admissions office usually sends out transfer admissions notifications first - in early May - and notifies all other waitlist students sometime during late May and up to June.
My child was accepted off of the WL last year on May 19th, the first round of acceptances. A letter of continued interest was sent within days of being waitlisted, not only expressing that an offer of acceptance at Columbia would be accepted immediately as it was still first choice, but also touching on a continued dedication to academics, extra curricular programs, and what specifically made Columbia the first choice. It was less than one page long, and made reference to a specific program at Columbia that was of interest and knowledge about that program and its achievements as well as how it would be a good fit. The Columbia waitlist acceptance rates are miniscule, my advice is not to wait long before you express your continued interest. Good luck
Very helpful. Thank you @2xIvyLeagueMom
is raising a B from first semester (my only B ever) to an A- significant enough to include?? or is that too insignificant?? also are we supposed to email these to our regional admissions officers?
@Teresas I was waitlisted for SEAS. Assuming you were too?
@LateCollegeCram Yes
May 15th
anyone know roughly how many people were made offers this year?
@AznDude525 l Where did you send your LOCI?? I don’t know if I should send it to my regional admissions officer or upload it to a portal
@rranderson they give you the email to send the LOCI to after you submit your waitlist acceptance form
Would it be wise to put my financial situation in my LOCI? I’m worried about even going to college since I have to pay 50,000 a year for every school I got in, meaning i’ll have to take a gap year. However, I don’t think they are need-blind for waitlist, so i’m mixed if I should add this or not.
If you don’t need FA, put that on your LOCI.
If you were to get in off of the waitlist, how much time would you be given to make the decision? 1 day? 2 days?
Did anybody get the waitlist reminder through email? I already sent one in but them sending that makes it seem like they didn’t receive it lol
