Official Columbia Class of 2021 Waitlist Thread

It’s over… I think this marks an official farewell to Columbia… I’m dead

@Kmj21 I’m an international student and I havent received any news yet. I guess that means I didn’t get in.

Does anyone have any idea when the second wave of decisions will come out?

Thanks for your reply. I spoke with her and she has not heard either. We are domestic. She applied to CC.

@Teresas Did you apply for financial aid? Cause I have this going hypothesis that they only pulled internationals who didn’t apply for aid or at least who don’t need significant one

I’m an international too and I have a huge financial need

@Kaleab470 same here

@Kaleab470 No, didn’t apply for financial aid hahaha. I guess they’ll release the results for financial aid students in the second wave?

Hi everyone! I’m from the Columbia 2021 Facebook group (was admitted RD) and just wanted to drop in and provide as much information as I could (though I’m not associated with the admissions office) because I’m waitlisted at a few other places and know how ambiguous the process is. Don’t know if this information is helpful to you or u/crowningflowers but I checked the Columbia Class of 2021 Facebook group and 55 new members were added yesterday and the day before as of right now. I assume there’s others who came off the waitlist that haven’t requested/been accepted to join the group and those who don’t have Facebook too.

Also the admissions officer posted this yesterday:
Yesterday, our office notified a small number of students that they had been admitted off the waitlist to Columbia—so please join me in welcoming the newest members of the Class of 2021! Be sure to check out the Welcome Website for lots of helpful information about academics, housing and New York City, and don’t hesitate to reach out to any of the current undergraduates in this group if you have questions. If you need to contact the Admissions Office, please email us at ugrad-welcome@columbia.edu (we won’t respond to Facebook messages). We’re so excited to welcome you to Columbia! #roar2021

In response to a question as to whether they’d admit more people, they wrote this:
There’s still a chance we admit more off the waitlist, but it depends on a lot of moving pieces. Every applicant will have heard from us one way or another by the end of June.

Hope this is helpful!

This feels so much better than the Princeton office.

Woww so some people have gone off Columbia’s wait list already

@wildflowerveins Thank you so much for your input! I was not admitted from the first round of waitlist, but your information was really helpful. I definitely agree with you that the process is totally ambiguous. Although I found waitlists really annoying, I guess it is part of the journey. Sign… but I wish you all the best and again, thanks for helping :slight_smile:

Has anyone gotten a denial yet? I don’t even care anymore I just want to know :frowning:

@basquiat no rejections as far as I know… did you get one?

Does anyone know if there’s going to be a second round/wave of decisions or when they would be released?

@ipw1519 nope :frowning:

My guess is, if they have a second wave, it will be after the 22nd as that’s the date the accepted students have to respond.

I think it will be the 22nd. The first wave has until midnight of the 22nd to decide, so that’s technically the night of the 21st.

@crowningflowers But princeton had until Monday and round 2 isn’t out yet to the best of my knowledge

It’s Friday, do you think we’ll have any update?
