Official Columbia ED Class of 2014 Results!!!

i dont understand how people wrote as their intended majors IR, which i am guessing is international relations, and international affairs, if Columbia does not even offer that as an option for an undergraduate major? Not only is it not on the website, it is not on the drop down list on the online application.

[] Weaknesses: standardized test scores
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I still don’t know. I can’t wrap my head around my acceptance. Overall I represent a diverse student who can write, I guess.
[li] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I had only sent in one other application to Carnegie Mellon, but I think they really liked me because they contacted me a lot. I had insecurities that I only got accepted because of my racial diversity (not saying that it definitely did not help), but there are plenty of other Hispanics with way higher test scores than me. It just goes to show you that they really do look at your WHOLE package and what you can bring to campus.[/li][/ul]**General Comments:
I am incredibly excited. I can’t even begin to explain my happiness. No more applications or worries. I got A TON of financial aid.

To those deferred: Like many who have said before, there are plenty of incredible schools that will take you, don’t give up!

To those rejected: Things happen for a reason. Maybe CU wouldn’t have been the best place for you to achieve all that you are capable of.

To those accepted: we are going to party it up in NYC next year and I can’t wait!!!

my daughter got in, CC ED 2014 too. She feels thrilled to be accepted into Columbia, and is forward to meeting all of you. I would like to state, however, that please, please, when posting that you were accepted, to remember that a lot of very qualified kids who worked really hard have gotten deferred or rejected, and to respect their feelings. They don’t need reminders that they are fantastic and that they will get into great schools, " just not Columbia" or, " maybe CU just wasn’t the place for you",as someone said…or as another said, “NYU is a great NYC school, just not as rigorous as CU”…these remarks although well meaning, can be construed as condescending, even if that was’t your intent…one must tread lightly here…
Easy rule of thumb, if you were rejected, deferred, what would YOU want to read ? Probably not much outside of the stats.

…my suggestion, other people here want to know the stats, and can compare, so just post 'em…no need to editorialize, go to the facebook CU 2014 page to celebrate ( you deserve a round of applause ,sure)…

That’s my 2 cents…have a great academic year !

Right on, GoBlueJays. The concept of “worth” (i.e., “I must be better, because I got in,” or “others must be better, because they got in and I didn’t”) is better addressed within one’s own community. No healthy person consciously thinks in those terms, but that is how one’s point-of-view is heard.

wow…I am terribly sorry if I offended anybody. My words were definitely not meant to be misconstrued or taken sarcastically, GoBlueJays.

No worries, jhfd92. No one thought you were being anything other than a very pleasant human. Congratulations, and enjoy Columbia as much as my son does!

Then let her post that herself. What, she has no access to a computer? Amazing, since Columbia has required online applications only, for many years now.

epiphany, shhhhhh…

parents do embarrassing things on the interwebs. We all have to come to accept that. :)

awww look at that… my post came out all pretty and stuff haha

hey, i was wondering what this columbia CE2 program is?
i’m a high school junior and really interested in applying to columbia next year

okay, i’m clearly new on this site, i was just writing to the guy that got accepted to SEAS and was varsity captain of (i believe) football and basketball?

The Columbia Engineering Experience (CE2) is a three-day program where students interested in SEAS stay on campus, meet people, visit labs, and learn about applying. I was sent an email about it a while ago. I didn’t apply since I wanted to go to Columbia College.

Did anyone get in as a scholar?
