OFFICIAL Columbia University Class of 2017 ED Results

I guess my initial post seems very short and wasn’t elaborated. Well, we got the decision date notification. Not sure if I want to dedicate on RD essays. Working on RD apps feels like telling myself I won’t be accepted in ED round…

https://undergraduate-admissions.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/decisions/login?r=https%3A%2F%2Fundergraduate-admissions.studentaffairs.columbia.edu%2Fapply%2Fstatus

Here’s the exact link to login. I wonder why Columbia didn’t make it easier to access.

anyone else not get their email yet? it’s been like an hour

@Sallylush… I completely agree with you! I love Columbia because of its people, its atmosphere, and its location. I’ve lived in NYC for 8 years but now I’m in OH. And I really want to go back, so I feel like Columbia is the best reason for me to move back as a student.

aghhh i just set a password LOOKING AT THE DECISIONS PAGE GIVES ME SO MUCH ANXIETY

also @HateSMUS i have the same problem. it’s great that columbia releases its ED results so early though, so if it’s bad news we’ll have time to get over the depression and finish RD’s on time!

does the email that you receive give you specific pin # or password information, or should i just make an account on the link posted above?

Also made an account for the sole purpose of this thread.

I got an email today from the financial aid office, but it was for a completely different thing. I have yet to get the email that everyone else is talking about

I have a question: if you’re rejected for Early Decision, can you reapply for Regular Decision?

@toma no, you can’t reapply :frowning: you have to wait until next fall to reapply as a transfer student

^ @Toma… no : (, if you are deferred you will automatically be entered into the RD pool, but if you are rejected you may not resubmit for this year

I also have a question…

If we are deferred ED, can we apply ED 2 somewhere else? Seems rather self-explanatory, but I figured I’d ask anyway

@fifa… yep! you are released from ED once deferred

on the admissions page it has this link: [Admissions Decisions | Columbia Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/admissions/decisions)

haha i might just follow it as i am impatient for my email!

^^

They always email me at 1 or 3 AM after every other person, every time. If I don’t wake up to an email, I’ll be making one of those first thing tomorrow

Yes, it’s great that Columbia releases its ED probably the fastest among the other peer universities since it gives deferred/rejected applicants more time to prepare for RD applications. It’s little odd that some applicants haven’t received release notification email.

can anyone who has received the email say what it contains? anything special or just that link?

i dont want to like screw up the system if there are special passwords or something

@HateSMUS- I don’t want to start one of the other supplements until I know I can list ED 2 for the deadline, so that’s very cool for CU to give everyone more time. (Also, what does your name mean?)

I just searched the tag on tumblr, first thing that popped up

Dear Andrew,

Thank you for your Early Decision application to Columbia University. We are nearing the end of our application review and will soon notify Early Decision candidates of our decisions.

The Columbia community is committed to environmental responsibility; in keeping with this commitment, we will provide some admissions decisions only online, not via regular mail. You may request that a copy of your decision letter be mailed to you after you receive it online; further instructions will be available when you check your decision. We plan to post all decisions online on Thursday, December 6, 2012, after 5:00pm (Eastern Time).

To view your decision online, you will need to create a password using the e-mail address listed on your Common Application. To create your password, please follow the instructions on our website.

If you have questions, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 212-854-2522 or ugrad-ask@columbia.edu.

hahaha, gotta love tumblr! thanks : ) i’m not going to wait for the email now

do recruited athletes really make up the majority of the high ED acceptance rate?
