OFFICIAL Columbia University Class of 2017 ED Results

Man, this year ED was tough… Bunch of strong applicants got rejected including me. I was thinking of deferral and rejection hurt a lot. Now I’m getting serious about scores. Gonna take ACT for the first time and go for 35+. Congratz for those who are accepted and cheer up for those deferred and rejected. Who knows, we may end up in HYPSM? Does anyone know if test scores in Jan/Feb are also put in consideration for RD app?

Accepted!!!

there was no video…

@Hate,

They are, if you get them in soon enough.

I totally agree. I’m also a Penn ED applicant (CAS though). I would find it heart wrenching to go on the CC website and see others’ acceptances and have to post my own stats… Ah well I’ll prlly end up posting them regardless of my decision. I know the chances are slim anyway xD (especially with the increase in apps)…

OT: good luck to all applicants who have yet to open their decisions/those who have been deferred from a uPenn CAS ED’er

Accepted as well.

A video did pop up for me showing the landscape and a few statues.
Then a letter popped up saying Congratulations Class of 2017 (:

I am unable to see the results.I have also sent an email to ugrad admissions.Below is what I get when I log in-----------

One thing I truly regret… that I did SAT rather than ACT as an international Asian. I didn’t even know there was such thing as ACT until end of gr11. I got 2240 (740/760/740) with intense study and my friends who couldn’t even get 2000, got score of 34+ in ACT. I’m suffering from this agony and regret… My score is critical to my admission because I’m an international and Asian (ORM). Now this critical mistake in this small decision is going to negatively impact my life…

ACCEPTED! There was no video for me either just a song… Thank you to everyone on CC who gave me support for the past month!! I know that this sounds incredibly cliche but you’ll all end up in amazing places!!

lol no they won’t, hate

I got deferred. Of course I’m a little bummed, but the fact that someone on that admissions committee sees potential in me is enough to keep me going. For those who share my fate, don’t stop working hard. PROVE YOURSELF WORTHY OF THIS OPPORTUNITY. to those rejected, you’re all awesome, and there’s no doubt you’ll find success elsewhere! To those accepted, CONGRATS! Hope to see you in the fall ;-)

sigh rejection hurts

Rejected yet still feeling optimistic about the future. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted, you guys are awesome!

I got rejected. So I’m bummed but not hopeless. A part of me wanted to go but the part did not. Just becausw we got rejected doesn’t mean that we failed in life. There are hundreds of other colleges that are better for us. Things happen but we have to move on in life. Millions of people are successful in life without a degree from Columbia. Some of them don’t have a degree to begin with but they are still amazing in what they do. Don’t feel discouraged, you’ll do fine wherever you end up going. Anyway, good luck!

Jesus. I’m literally crying that I got deferred… Columbia’s been my dream college probably since middle school (literally), and I don’t wanna sound pretentious or anything, but I thought I was a lot better of an applicant than a lot of people that got in…
Affirmative action really sucks.

I really wish I could do something to affect my admissions decision, but sadly, most deferred kids get rejected from the regular round too, so yippee, thanks for rejecting me Columbia.
EVEN AFTER I THREW AWAY an athletic commit to Williams, Swarthmore, AND Carleton, just for a chance to apply.

In the grand scheme of things, on a scale broader than your dream school ambitions, affirmative action is awesome.

It’s not like affirmative action is the reason you got deferred. You’ll have to look elsewhere for a scapegoat.

Actually I am putting my blame on that. Honestly, what have Koreans ever done wrong to deserve affirmative action? I understand that African-Americans, Native-Indians, and Latinos are being compensated for the way they were treated in the past, but all we Asians have ever done was work hard. We went through the same discrimination as them, we were rejected, beaten, sent to prison camps, etc., yet because of our hard work ethic, we’re being punished? That’s a load of bull sh**.
