Yes, but the fact that lot of students with high SAT scores are rejected scares me. Since I’m Asian international (ORM) and have relatively low SAT score (mid 2200s) for international, those two factors are giving me pressure. Because the admission process is so vague, I can’t say anything but for internationals, 2300+SAT seems to be much more solid ground. I’ve seen some South Koreans with 2260~2290 getting in last year for Class of 2016, so just crossing my fingers.

Yes, @Canadian112, I agree. The admissions process seems random to us because when people post their stats, we don’t know what kind of people they are, ie. their personality. However, when the admissions officers analyze everyone’s applications, they are able to get a general understanding of their personality. Considering that we’re applying to an Ivy League school and that there’s tons of applicants that are academically qualified, we have to understand that if the Office of Undergraduate Admissions wanted to, they could make a class of everyone that scored 2300+ on SAT (or ACT equivalent). However, this is far from the reality. Again, to repeat what Canadian112 said, Columbia is a reach for everyone. In the end, we see the admissions decisions as a product of luck, God’s will, or however we want to explain it based on how we perceive reality.

It’s certainly a crapshoot in this kind of level of university, especially for internationals. A Korean from our school, got rejected from every single Ivy+ except Princeton last year lol He had 2270 (single sitted) 2370 superscored without much ECs. His case was certainly lucky but just shows how uncertain admission process is. He is majoring mathematics in Princeton this year.

Y does it necessarily have to be on thursday? Is it like a tradition? If it doesn’t have to be on thursday, I think we’ll be able to find out about in two weeks.

hi guys, I know we are all very nervous about the decisions of the admission officers, so try this website for some random results [Yes or No - Press to Decide](Yes or No - Press to Decide) post what you get later~ i got a no :P

Is it really true that there’s not much of a community? I’m pretty quiet and I have a feeling I wouldn’t make friends there easily without someone talking to me first.

@krp322… none of the other freshmen will know anyone either : ) I’m sure if you get involved in activities and leave your dorm door open you will have no problems

@krp322. i’ve heard that if you aren’t extroverted making friends may be difficult at Columbia. but i think if you at least try to make a concerted effort to meet new people you’ll be fine.

Yeah well I’m definitely an introvert. But most of my friends are completely opposite of me and are extroverted so I guess I should be fine. That’s if I can even get in…
