My counselor at my school told my friend he MIGHT be hearing from Columbia this week. This sounds promising, but it’s not definite.

Last year folks began hearing today May 13th. Good luck everyone!

Our admissions officer said that waitlist candidates would be notified of their status today.

@woof28, do you mean everyone? columbia traditionally releases decisions in waves… Do you think this = high yield rate and bad news for the waitlist?

I’m worried it’s bad news. Called office and they said that mass email will go out at 5:00 pm. Worried this is like Yale. High yield and closing waitlist. Sad for us.

@woof28 @heyhey2
It looks like this is the end of the road for Columbia waitlists 2018 folk…A mass email is NEVER a good thing it would seem. We are like 99.999% at the end of the line because of a high yield and no space for waitlists…Good luck everyone for their currently committed schools!

I was put on the “extended waitlist”. What the heck does that mean? What did others hear?

I was offered a spot on the extended waiting list, and am holding on.

was released… not surprised. good luck to those that are extended!!

@woof28, it means that they found you to be a very compelling member of their current waiting list. The extended wait list is typically much smaller, and even fewer stay on. However, the likelihood of acceptance at this point is slim to none. However, as Columbia’s waiting list decisions only came out a day after HYP, there is a small chance that some of those students were enrolled at columbia, and probably did not inform them of their decision to go to those schools prior to the email that was sent this afternoon.

Anyone know if there is a chance of getting off the extended waitlist?

Looks like some folks got on the extended waitlist last year but no word that they got off. Not looking good. This is torture. Looks like it might be U Chicago for me.

I was put onto the extended waitlist. Hope we can have some advantages if we apply for transfer next year.

Got offered a spot on the extended waitlist. Definitely staying.

I was offered a spot on the extended waitlist, as well. I’m waiting on the Fu school, though… What about you guys?

The College or Fu (engineering)?

College for me.

Waiting on Fu Foundation, I accepted my spot on the extended waitlist.

college for me

If we’re on the extended waitlist, probably means they’re going to take into consideration our final transcripts eh?

crap

Your school has the option of sending in your second semester grades–most do, especially if your grades have improved or stayed the same the second semester.
