Official Columbia University RD Class of 2017 Thread!

I applied to 8 schools and got deferred from Harvard EA so I don’t find out any decisions till end of March. It’s making me crazy! (my safety isn’t rolling)
Columbia is definitely my number 1 or 2 school, though. I would likely only seriously consider Harvard against it, given a best case scenario of getting into both.
I’m going for biochemistry/chemistry in CC, btw. What’s everyone’s major?

@artobsessed haha yeah same i’ve always wanted to go to CU. I actually attended model congresses at CU. Ugh. It’s amazing. NYC is awesome and I want to stay here for the next 4 years :)

@luv2dance1995 Majoring in gender/sexuality studies.

@luv2dance, I’m also thinking possible biochemistry? If not, then straight-up biology. Hopefully med school is in my future, but I guess I’ll figure all that out along the way.

biomedical engineering, no med school for me!

@luv2dance1995
I’m also planning to major in biochemistry!
I heard that biochemistry was supposedly a really tough major and most students change majors after their freshman year lol

im sure it is i mean its biochemistry! are all you bio people in AP Bio right now? i am and i love it… p.s. im clearly addicted to this feed.

@artobsessed
haha I guess you’re right about that

Yeah I am also in AP Biology this year and I love it too!
But kind of worried since AP Biology test changed this year. :/

I’m potential bio and premed!

I’m taking the equivalent of AP Bio right now, It’s just called Bio but it’s at an advanced school for science and technology where everything is supposed to be college level and dual-enrolled, so no AP’s or honors classes

I’m considering foreign affairs but I think that I will probably end up in something like biochemistry also. Big difference between the two but they are my two biggest interests. I am stronger in anything science related though so that is probably the best choice.

@ artobsessed, yeah I’m in AP Bio. it’s by far the class with the most work, but can be super rewarding too

@serenamae1216, yeah I’ve been struggling between biochemistry and journalism haha. If I get into Columbia, I would love to take some of its amazing graduate journalism courses and write for the Spectator :)

I laaaav AP bio. Absolutely my favorite class. As for college, I’m torn between that and physics…

I still don’t know if I want to be on a pre-law track or a pre-med one.
O___o

math with a gender/sexuality minor!

If I get in, I’ll be going for financial engineering.

Woah! I didn’t know so many people like biology & chemistry!! I, personally, am indifferent towards biology & chemistry, but I LOVE physics and and have even taken up an elective in Electronics & Electricity(Indian curriculum - ISC) in school!! :)

Anyone else into engineering/physics??

Oh god physics…gross hahah, COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE FTW!

hey Guys, I’ve applied to 12 colleges in all( UPENN(M &T ED Deffered), MIT, stanford, UC berkeley, UC LA, Princeton, COlumbia, Cornell, Yale, Georgia TEch), and UIUC and UMich already accepted.

@ram0276 - Brilliantly amazing!! Physics is the base of all science subjects, and you call it gross!! :P

I adore physics, and I’m currently trying to wrestle with whether or not I want to pursue med school or engineering… I suppose that’s what freshman year is for, right?
