accepted to cc as junior standing!!
So happy :)

Accepted! Also, does anyone know where to look for their tentative transfer credits?

For future reference: I’ve been accepted (still can’t believe it!) after a year at a community college with a total colligiate GPA of 4.0 over 47 credits. My SAT and ACT scores SUCKED (so did HS GPA to a lesser extent – like 3.75 unweighted) but I had fantastic recs from professors who can actually write quite well (part of the reason why I think recs from english/humanities profs usually do you the most good) and I felt really good about the little responses I wrote to the short answer questions. I also have some decent EC’s.

The only thing about being accepted though is that you still have to pay for it…anyone got an extra 60k lying around?

accepted as junior transfer! my college gpa is 3.67 and hs gpa is 3.44. hopefully this gives hope for those with average/low gpas

Rejected, but I’m not too upset. I just got news that I was accepted to UPenn, so I may consider going there instead of staying at my CCC for another year…

Rejected, can’t say I wasn’t expecting that. 3.72 w/ 50 credits but weak SATs and HS GPA.

Congratulations to all the accepted!

Anyone receive their acceptance package yet?

Also, are you guys going to one of the Columbia Summer Advising sessions in your hometown, or will you be going to NY for the transfer-specific one?

My parents got mine at home.

Ayn You will recieve an email about two weeks after acceptance with the subject “entrance credit report” That will give you an overview of whats transferring but not a class by class break down.

*Just saw that this is for the General thread. I was accepted to GS, so if you applied to CC or Fu, it may be a different process.

how do we activate UNI?

Sino, you should get an email telling you when you’re able to activate it. At that point, you can go to the CUIT site (Columbia U Information Technology) and click “activate a new UNI account.”

I transferred last year, so I can do my best to answer any questions.

Congrats to all of you, by the way!

Hi Malapropism, thanks for making yourself available.

My question is about transfer fin aid. Columbia recently instituted the program where they significantly decrease the EFC for families in the income bracket between $60-100K. However they don’t extend this to transfer students. Do they then treat your fin aid for subsequent years in the same manner for transfer students in the following years? Meaning, does the $60-100K thing ever apply to transfers, or do we get less aid than those who came in as first years? Perhaps this may not be your expertise but maybe you could draw from your own personal experience with fin aid.

I actually received my package a few days ago and it is quite generous, especially considering they didn’t include loans. I was just wondering how this compares to other non-transfer CU students.

Thanks in advance!

Geilermann, how much did you receive from Columbia. I was admitted with a parent income below 60k, but received $0 from Columbia. Anyone that was admitted as a transfer, how much did you receive from Columbia? Thanks.

Is someone going to make a Facebook group for all of us?

I neither requested nor needed financial aid my first year, though I may be applying for it this year. I’ll let you know what I find out through the process. I haven’t really talked finances with my other transfer friends… Sorry I’m not of much help.

hey everyone, i wanted to set up a facebook group for accepted transfer students so that we could all get to know one another.

however, i need to have someone else in the group before i can create one. if you want to be included please message me on here! once i get one person i can create the group!

also, does anyone know where they are going to apply for housing?

hello once again!

i just created the group for accepted transfers…everyone join so we can get to know one another!

A little late, but I was ACCEPTED and already sent in my deposit. Every one here had awesome stats and the competition was super steep.

I recently changed my fb education to Columbia and since then have been getting friend requests from people who have only 1-3 other friends, who Just created their profiles prior to adding me. Has anyone else been receiving these requests?

I’m just curious, what were your stats?

Also, did you apply as sophomore or junior year?

Did anyone receive word about an extended waitlist?
