Official Columbia University Transfer Thread Fall 2012

I need to know the date… I have to pay a deposit to Stern :/

My advice: if its gonna be too late, pay the deposit. 500 dollars is a lot but it is a hell lot better than beng stuck with no school (God forbid). Anyways good luck to everyone, just saw that all my documents have been received so I guess its in the hands of the admissions officers from here on.

yeah, I am paying it. Hopefully, I can say it was a waste of money…

I called today, and they didn’t have an official date set.

Yhh its gonna be a waste of money :stuck_out_tongue: Hope you get in to Columbia, it’s such a great school it’s insane!

Hey everyone! I’m here waiting for my fate as well! I currently attend a community college and I’m applying as a junior for Fall 2012.

I’ve been accepted Cornell University and I’m waiting to hear back from JHU, Amherst and Columbia. Hopefully I have a fair shot. My application is solid…ignoring my horrendous SAT scores. I hope it doesn’t hurt me.

I think May 15th will be the death of me. All of my schools get back to me on the same day. How heart breaking.

Ronlo91 I am applying from a community college too.

That’s awesome! What are your stats like?

I actually went to the information session and they didn’t seem too interested in community college students. I asked about how many they accept each year, and they just responded " community college kids are in the bunch…" I was a bit discouraged when I heard that, and I doubt I’ll get in, but it didn’t hurt to apply anyway.

Damn that stinks. I have a 4.0 from my cc, I don’t quite remember the rest but I have a HORRID high school gpa. I honestly applied just to apply, I would love to go there, but I am realistic and realize I have a 0.000000001% chance. What are your stats like?

3.95 GPA. Applying as junior, and my high school was disgusting as well. 3.3 GPA. My chances are looking just as slim man! I hope at least one community college kid gets through. That would be awesome.

aww ya I would be happy for them. Good luck to you. In general community college students rarely transfer to the top ivies, but you never know really. Where will you go if you don’t get in?

That would be awesome. Thanks, good luck to you also. Where else have you applied? If I don’t get into Columbia I go to cornell (I got accepted).

Does anyone know how important the midterm college report is? I think mine got lost in the mail.

Can anyone log into this page? I can’t but I’m wondering if its one of those ways to see if you got in a little early… It happened with Cornell and the housing portal.

https://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/welcome/login?destination=node/1

I can’t. I think it’s still early. But of course, if one can log in, he or she definitely has got in (unlike Cornell’s housing).

as much as I wish it was possible, Columbia has made it clear that there is no possible way of getting decisions early… including logging into the accepted students page. Their IT department doesn’t allow for such loopholes.

14 days left

^I think we are finding out sooner than the 15th… I can only hope that’s true.

Wait what are you guys talking about with the Cornell housing port? I applied there too but still haven’t heard back. Does the site’s response to your ID number indicate your admission decision (works for admits/doesn’t work for rejects)?

if you can log into cornell’s housing website it is highly likely that you have been admitted… definitely check out the Cornell transfer thread on the Cornell page for more info.

Soo… anyone called to get the official date yet?

I think I will call tomorrow. We already know Penn is the 10th, and the same thing happened last year (aka Columbia ended up being the next day).
