What size should the envelopes be when sending the school forms?

Guys, what shoould i do about the teacher forms having completely different student IDs? CA tech support says if I use the blank downloadable forms, I STILL have to write in the student IDs manually. That's stupid. isn't that the same thing as printing out the online forms with preprinted student IDs?

And my teachers will be the ones who photocopy the original form and send to the different colleges. So they'll have to fill the student ID in themselves. Which is stupid too.

What will happen if I just ignore the student ID and send the blank version to ALL schools?

The summer section is really awful. It seems to only be designed for kids taking summer classes at schools that administer the program. Many summer programs have no affiliation with their location - beyond paying rent. My son have gone to Cty, Mathcamp and the Math Olympiad Summer program. He also took a 10 day backpacking trip with the BSA.

His two EA schools have a section that asks for summer activities that include all activities - including family trips. He left the CA section blank. If he applys to other schools that do not have that section on their supplements, we will have to figure it all out.

Screwitlah: You should check with the schools you are applying to and see if they use those preprinted ID numbers. We called a bunch of schools this morning and most of them don't use the numbers--some said they use social security number, some said birthdate, so you get the picture. The one school that said they use the number said to just call the school after everything had been sent in to be sure the teacher recommendations and other school forms had made it into the same file as the application.

Yale's website says the following about hard copies:

"In the 2006-2007 application cycle, more than 90% of our applicants filed their application online.
Yale encourages electronic applications for two reasons: your convenience and our processing speed and accuracy. We know that some college counselors and authors of advice manuals recommend applying on paper in order to enhance formatting and appearance. We believe formatting to be irrelevant to our application evaluation procedure, and again, strongly encourage online submissions from our applicants."

ok thanks guys, but im still doing it paper...now to get back to the answer to my question....do colleges accept "applicant copy" ?

and my new question is..i did an internship but if i put that under work experiance, its highlighted ..so what is the "specific nature of my job" or w.e

Write down Intern or if you're talking about the description, do a brief synposis of what you did.

no you can't use the "applicant copy" printed off of the online common app. You have to download the pdf version and print that.

What size should the envelopes be when sending the school forms? Should I just go with the regular sized bussiness evelopes all my mail comes in?

I'm applying to Vanderbilt. They ask for two teacher recs. I've got 1 no problem. I'd like for my employer to write one also. She happens to be a teacher at my school. Should I let her write one and count it as part of the two or should I send in 3? Should I just scrap the idea altogether?

I submitted supplements to two colleges in September. Now that I'm ready to submit my Common App, the Colleges List won't let me click the
"box" for either of those colleges. I haven't submitted my Common App anywhere else.

--ASK

Bjs: That would be your second recommendation.

Nickel: I believe Stanford requested no folding and no stapling so I bought 9x11 envelopes.

For the teacher evaluation forms, should I handwrite the top part where I have to fill in the info or type it? Because the teacher handwrites their evaluation part right? And for social security number, should I fill that in before giving it to my teacher? That seems kinda scary to have the teacher see your ssn. So should i just handwrite that whole part???????

And where you write in your high school courses, do I have to fill taht out or does my counselor?

I had all of that information along with the counselor's personal information prepopulated for me when I printed it out.

I realize this question has been asked A LOT, and i read through all the threads but i wanted some quick clarification since my app is due this thursday!

i realize you can create different versions of the common app so you can send different essays to different schools, but how exactly do you create more versions and do the colleges see it and not like it?

You create a different account, lol.

you are kidding right Quixotic

After I submit my application to a school ED, can I make changes to my CommonApp for schools in the RD round?

"I had all of that information along with the counselor's personal information prepopulated for me when I printed it out."

So for the teacher part it has filled in already my school name and address.....but not their named pre-typed.....is that weird? Cause they handwrite their part, right?

^^ i think thats ok, what i did was (since im doing paper), Fill out w.e i can using the common app, so the top part is typed. Then i printed it out , just go to SChool Forms, and you will see everything already. After that just give it to ur teacher.

My question:

If the teacher writes it by hand, pen, can we just make photocopies and send it to the rest of the schools? so the teacher doesnt have to keep reevaluating? (not talking about rec, just the part where it asks you "one of the few encountered" or w.e for leadership, quality of writing etc...)

Also is it better to say Yes, that we will not see the recommendation? If thats the case im planning on telling teachers to put it in an envelope, and put "Teacher Recommendation" and i can just put that envelope in the Bigger envelope along with my app so everything is organized. (which is what schools want, i called some Admission offices)
