i meant the school forms from the common app.

When it has a academic honors and awards, should I include where I finished in different math/science competitions such as Mu Alpha Theta or ABC?

Ok, so for the common app. I filled out the Secondary School Report with a paper and pen. I am using the common app. on the internet though and I want to know if I still have to fill it out on the internet even though my school will be sending the form out with my transcripts? On the common app. website it says

"Current Year Courses:

Please indicate title, level (AP, IB, advanced, honors, etc.) and credit value of all courses you are taking this year. If you have already graduated from secondary school and are not currently enrolled in college, you should enter the courses from your final year of secondary school.
NOTE: This information will not print in your application."

Thanks.

sorry sorry I know this question has probably been asked a million times already but I've looked at a few pages in this thread and can't find it...

where is the Summer Section people are talking about?
For example, I did a class for a 3 week summer academic program at UCSD; where do I mention this?

The Common Application says that if I want to elaborate on one of my personal activities, I can do so in the writing samples section.

Is this elaboration supposed to be in essay format or can it simply be a list of activities and awards?

Also, am I only allowed to expand on one activity? Can't I mention others?

Thanks,
(and sorry if this question has been asked before!)

The one that's 250 words or less? That's the short essay and you're only supposed to pick one activity.

actually it's 150 words or less......I know it says to pick one activity but if you play several sports, can you just speak to sports in general (what you're learned from them, etc.)?

Can you pay the application fees BEFORE submitting the apps?

I didn't but I'm sure you could.

Question:
I did ED UPenn
so I submitted the main part of my app.
I'm pinching myself right now b/c I just found out that I won some major awards and am taking the SAT again (which I failed to add on my application)

Could I possibly just make a new account and add all this new stuff?
Or is it totally unnecessary (b/c I'll be sending scores to the schools anyways)

just kidding I figured it out from previous posts
oi I love CC

where is the summer sectionnnn?
i know it's been answered but i can't find it
please reply

If your doin common app by paper, and u plan to send it in a big yellow envelope, can u just attach a money order written out to that institution?

I have a question on GPA: Does it include every class you've ever taken or do colleges weed out certain classes? My school is based on an A+=4.33, A=4.00 etc like many others are, but I see other students posting their unwieghted GPAs, say 3.66 and coming out with a weighted GPA of 4.33. My school is that an A- for example = 4.33 after weighting, so .66 up, but to get a .66 bump overall that would mean EVERY class throughout your 4 years would have had to been weighted? Really confused if someone could clear this up.

If i was in a club during my exchange, then continued to study the subject of the club on my own this year, what should I write down in the activities section? It seems kind of dishonest to write w/e club and check both 11th and 12th grade?

I dunno if this helps ^^ at all, but at my school your UW only goes above 4.0 if you take any AP/Honors classes. An A+=4.00, and A=4.00, and A-=3.7, a B+=3.3, so on.

Would AAA Travel Challenge count as an Academic distinction or in the "list other activities" section?

Is the first page of the teacher evaluation form supposed to have a big blank space at the end?

On the Academic Honors section of the Common App, how do I have to list the awards? Is it like:

award - description/grade/whatever

award - description/grade/whatever

award - description/grade/whatever

award - description/grade/whatever

or like:

award - description/grade/whatever; award - description/grade/whatever; award - description/grade/whatever; award - description/grade/whatever

Strawberry Mayo, it's better to list them in the second way you posted (all on the same line) since there is very limited space in that section of the Common App. Personally, I separated mine with commas, but I'd be interested to see what other people have done.

For the employment section, I've done various babysitting but only once or twice a month rather than weekly. However, it won't let me put in anything but a number. Any suggestions? I've already elaborated on this in the Additional Info section, but I was wondering what I should put in the actual blanks.

Two Questions:

Concerning the awards section-- I don't even have ROOM for description. Mine just looks like award (year), award (year). I don't think I won too many awards though; Should I perhaps cut down on the awards I put up so that I can give a better description?

Also, I was wondering about the resume length on the addition info-- Mine is two pages, but I have a tiny thing on the third page which is just hobbies and interests (offbeat things, you know?). I was wondering if a.) that is too long and b.) are there any specific schools that might discourage sending a resume with the Common App? Right now, I'm only aware of Stanford (but that simply shows I'm narrowminded.). Yes, I do intend to call each of my schools, but I was wondering if it would show poorly/well if we did attach a resume.

Oh, I'm interested to know the answer to Moonlight921's second question as well.
