OFFICIAL Common Application Questions Thread

I think I have seen this somewhere on cc, but I cannot find it now. Anyone know how we can create another version of the common app? We wanted to add to the ‘special circumstances’ question.

See post #65 on this thread. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/435828-application-procrastination-5.html</a></p>

I think most sympathetic admission offices will give everyone a day of extra time.

Eh, I don’t think the site even lets you submit documents after the deadline - sympathetic be them admissions folks or not, . I can access the site in all of two seconds right now though . . . ?! Maybe there are regional servers or better infrastructura? I’ll be missing some hard-core raves tonight to work on this nonsense . . . bollocksky!

It will crash when I submit my 24 schools’ application

/joke

Min is pretty fast (and i’m using borrowed wifi from my neighbor)

bump plz i need an answer to this lol

150 word limit is like text rape; there is no place to write anything; I wrote a bit about what I did and the impact/experience/etc.

How big of a deal is it if the essay is slightly under 200? I wrote and sent it in a while ago. It’s not a tough read, a lot of the words are short, a few numbers, mostly informational, and impact observations are not very deep. A lot of it is elaborating on awards and stuff I won I couldn’t fit into 100 char for describing activities. Is this a big deal? The essay’s not really that condensible, and the extra ~50 words amounts to 2-3 lines on the common app. Should I worry or do anything about it?

Can that 150 word essay be about a personal activity? Not just an EC, right?

It’s slower than usual, but it’s bearable. Just wait till later tonight. LOL. At least I sent all of mine two weeks ago.

Bit slow right now. later today should get worse

thanks, but when I tried to go to the special link in the thread,

http://app.commonapp.org/application...allowcopy=true</a>

it said

Invalid Access

Did they turn the ‘allowcopy’ function off?

edit–

We got the screen. I clicked the link that was contained in the help section and it gave me the replicate function.

I clicked replicate, and it gave me a screen asking if Iwant to create another verion.

^ Ahh, you carry a harsh tone, but you still haven’t answered my questions very clearly. Thanks anyway. As for your #4 answer, I’ll check.

^ roy2937, it means you can turn it in BEFORE January 2nd.

I suggest submitting the apps as you finish so if it did crash and you couldn’t meet the deadline, at least you would have most of them done. That is what I have done. I have 3 left now.

I put in additional info that I am taking January 26 SATs and letting them know.

Also, I think its annoying when self righteous people ridicule OPs for asking certain questions late. Most likely because I am a procrastinator, but regardless it is unnecessary.

Yep. I’m not even thinking about sending my apps late tonight. Before 6 pm should be good

agree with daiea08, just bc they turned their apps in a little early, they go around ridicule others.

Thanks so much for the advice. I had thought about single spacing, but I was worried that it might come off as obnoxious - like I think they’re too stupid to notice I changed the formatting.

What do you guys think is the absolute max?

Usually colleges ask you to single space.

we successfully created another version, but the system is giving inconsistant msgs:

there are no colleges listed, but when we try to add a college it says it is already in our selection list. the college is in the original version, but was not submitted. A supplement for the college was already created and started, but not submitted.
