^ ditto! Completely agree, also with the fact that colleges don’t defer you just for crossing that 150 word limit. However, it is there for a reason, that they want you to just lightly touch on a topic.. right?

It’s fine…you dont really have much time anyways.

HAHAHA i know. annoying.

Extremely slow and I had a few errors when I submitted stuff. Ugh, I had everything done, I should have submitted stuff a while ago.

oh haha I beg to differ…#1 procrastinator here, but it’s gonna get done, and it’s gonna get done well, but yeah I don’t think it’s necessary to make it anything more than what it is

its still going pretty fast for me
i dont know what is the problem with you guys

I’ve searched the Common App website but couldn’t find an answer.

I’m applying to Cornell, Duke, Northwestern via Common App. Since Cornell & Northwestern’s deadline is earlier, I’ll be submitting the application to them first.

How does the submission work?

A) Do you have a choice to send to individual schools or does it send to all the schools in one fell swoop?

B) After I have submitted my Common Application to Cornell & Northwestern, can I still edit it before my submission to Duke? Or, is it the case where after I submit, I cannot edit it for another school?

C) Some have advised attaching “brag sheets”/resumes to your application. Is this advisable? If so, how do I include in my Common Application?

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

there really isn’t a whole lot of consensus here…

^ you’re lucky.
wait, so if you submit and you get errors, you need to re-submit right?
because i changed some info in the app and saved it, came out as error. i signed off and logged in again but it did save my info.

Glad I sent them yesterday…it was starting to get slow already!

since i cant put a tab in the short answer, should i indicate a new paragraph with a -> or something? or leave a blank in between paragraphs or what???pleasee help!!

Yes, you can submit them individually.

You cannot change that version of the Common App once it is sent. But, you can create an alternate version. Just follow the instructions on the CA website how to create an alternate version to send to Duke. It’s really pretty easy. Just be sure to re-upload any thing you originally uploaded to your original app if you intend to use it on the new version. Or…you can upload a different document or essay…it’s your choice what goes into the new version. For the record, you can create multiple versions of the CA. So far, my daughter has 5 different versions!

Sure, why not send your resume or brag sheet…just upload it to the “Additional Info” section of the Writing Samples page. That’s what my daughter did.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

That was in reply to Phi. I should have labelled my answers A,B,C…haha.

anyone else have any opinions on going over by 50 on the 150 words short answer. Sorry for constant posting, I’m just really nervous and I’m not going to be able to do anything about it tomorrow.

bump…

Just in case something goes horribly wrong. . .

I heard that once a school’s dealine passes, you can’t CommonApp apply to it. So when midnight strikes, is that it, or is there a teensy bit of leeway?

I’m sorry it has come to this, but I’m in where I want to be EA. . . several of these apps are to appease my parents, only one I am exetremely interested in (MIT) though a major reach.

I have the same question plus I was wondering if the common app is on East Coast Time? So then I have to turn them in by 9 PM pacific…

1) I already sent the common app to RPI. Could I replace that application with another version of the application, which will consist a different essay? I don’t want to pay for two applications >.<

2) Is the payment for the apps due today? Or can I pay for it tomorrow?

Common App is Eastern Time 11:59pm <- why would you even consider submitting this late?.. It’s New Years Day - there are better things to do

I’ve seen this addressed on here before: apparently, schools (I’m pretty sure MIT in particular was addressed) get TONS of applications in the early hours of January first. They process them all. Don’t worry about it. Just don’t be, like, three hours late.
