Sorry I didn’t see the last part about General Comments, honestly I was pretty shocked. I didn’t really know what to expect.

Lot of Human Ecology people. Count me as one of them…very happy I got in.

LOL (10 char!)

Decision: Accepted to CALS

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I (breakdown): 2150 (690 M, 750 CR, 710 W)
[] ACT: 33 composite
[] SAT II: 750 Math II, 680 US History, 740 Chemistry

[] IB (place score in parenthesis):
[] Senior Year Course Load: 4 APs (Biology, Calc AB, English Lit, Government), Spanish IV H (basically a second year college level)
[li] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.):
[/li]

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]

[] Job/Work Experience: the typical summer jobs (pet store, lifeguarding, etc.)
[] Volunteer/Community service: Presidential Volunteer Service Award (gold level), Habitat for Humanity, 30 Hour Famines
[] Summer Activities: just the above jobs
[] Essays: I thought they were ok. My essays tend to be really hit or miss. Some people really like them, others don’t like my style of writing.
[] Teacher Recommendation: I assume good, I waived the right to see them
[] Counselor Rec: Same as teacher recs
[] Additional Rec:
[li] Interview: It went extremely well, we still occasionally e-mail each other.
[/li]

[/ul]Other[ul]
[] State (if domestic applicant): NY
[] Country (if international applicant):
[] School Type: Small (about 400) Catholic school
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Male
[] Income Bracket:
[li] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Not sure if this would include legacy, but I don’t even think it played a role. My dad, as my grandma said, “liked Cornell a little too much” and ended up transferring after one year to San Diego State. If anything, that would kinda hurt me…
[/li]

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: I think I had well-rounded extracurriculars and the interview only could have helped.
[] Weaknesses: To be honest, my essay. I only edited it once (and briefly at that) and I can’t even remember if anyone proofread it. Stupid, I know, but it seemed to have worked out!
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I can’t think of any specific reasons other than an overall well-rounded application.
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted to William and Mary, UVM (honors college), UMass (honors college), UMD. Rejected from Middlebury.
[/ul]General Comments: I think I was expecting to be waitlisted as I wasn’t feeling too confident after Middlebury. That I applied to CALS probably helped my chances a lot, I have three friends who were denied for engineering (plus one that got accepted). I’m not sure if I’ll end up going to Cornell, but it’s basically between there and William and Mary.

Decision: Accepted to Engineering
