how are people finding out so early? I thought they didn't let people know until like March 31st or something...

I think thats for engineering.

Hotel School has rolling admissions =]

http://www.hotelschool.cornell.edu/

so when can you apply to the hotel school? you said rolling admissions? when can I apply for fall 2007 freshmen.

Essays: i am actually really proud of thems, cornell supp kind of weak
Teacher Recs: I only read one and was amazed, i learned characteristics about myself i never knew I had.
Counselor Rec: great, spent a lot of time preparing and discussing
School Type: Competitive Catholic school, 600 students
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Gender: male
Other Factors: My first language is Spanish so that might explain my low SAT score.
Why I think I was accepted/deferred: strong GPA with the strongest courseload available in my school, History buff with international science awards? My ethnicity might have also helped.
Other thoughts: I was suspeded a total of two times for dumb things and was in both times part of a larger group.

This "official" thread is so cluttered. Can we make a new one with JUST acceptances/rejections/waitlists?

when did you guys find out? was it online or through the regular mail?
is it a bad sign that i haven't heard yet? (please say no, but be honest . . . ahhhh, i'm scared)

i agree with comflsomh. -_-

hopingforthebest, this is the worst sign possible...ur a certain reject...

common...u obviously know that hardly a few pwople here have recieved likely letters and actual letters of acceptances...also, likely letters are given out to only 5-10% of the app pool...it, BY NO WAY, means that ur out of the race

How do u get in with a 1800 SAT !!
Edit: NM

i was wonderin the same thing...r u a counter-thesis to Darwin's 'Survival of the Fittest'???

by being an URM

i don't think you can just say URM and that's it
not to be a wet blanket here, but sharkie clearly has much more going for him/her than that (impressive list of ecs, tough courses, etc.)

although that might've helped, i'm going to have to mommy the thread and say 'just say no to labeling others!'

I actually think sharkie's likely letter shows some hope for us all! It proves that Cornell is NOT just looking at numbers... (like some schools. cough WashU cough) they actually look at extracurriculars and internships and jobs and GPA and course load and so on... sharkie, you are my hero :)
