***Official Cornell Class of 2019 Waitlist thread

Has anyone heard back from Cornell yet?

Does anyone know when Cornell will start getting applicants off of the waitlist?

Next month

Hey guys, i filled out the thing to put me on the wait list but got no confirmation that i was actually put on it… anyone know anything about this?

@trose220 I got no e-mail either. I guess Cornell just doesn’t send it.

guys please post here if you hear anything about the waitlist.

Does anyone know if Cornell goes into waitlist every year

Does anyone know if Cornell goes into waitlist every year

They don’t go into the waitlist every year, they didn’t in 2010 (and also I THINK in 2009). However, since then they have been taking people every year. I’m on the same boat as you guys, and I believe we’ll hear back in mid May.

My daughter was on the waitlist twp years ago - she did not hear until June - so do not give up hope! Also, she did not visit Cornell untill I dropped her off in August to begin her freshman year! She LOVES Cornell!

I was wait-listed for the SHA. My 3rd quarter grades recently came out and it slightly improved from last quarter. Should I email my 3rd quarter grades to the admissions office?

@pr0spective if you think it’s going to help your application, then sure!

I was also waitlisted, and I sent the admissions office several updates. It would be a dream to attend Cornell University. I think that we will likely hear back in mid-May and I know that Cornell is also offering some waitlist spots Spring 2016 admission. I’m just as eager as you guys to hear back, so please post if anyone hears anything!

Does the admissions office acknowledge they received the updates?

My son never received an acknowledgment for his updates from the main admissions email they post. However, you can also send a copy of your updates to your regional representative (often by state). My son did receive an email from his regional representative about the updates. She said that all updates sent to them (this includes the main admissions email that everyone uses to send in updates) will be put into the applicant’s folder for consideration when they review the wait-list candidates. Good luck to everyone here!

Yep I also received acknowledgement for my updates from the regional representative. I received acknowledgement for all the updates that I sent very promptly.

I’m waitlisted for sha and I called the admissions office a few days ago to ask if they were going to accept students off the waitlisted and when. They said that they don’t know yet.

They’re still accepting supplementary information though… LETS DO THIS GUYS!!! >:D<

If Cornell is to go to its WL, it maybe as early as next week. They would most likely call you or your GC to see if you’ll take the offer before they send out the official offer. You would have 1-2 days to make your decision, sometimes they would even ask for a decision on the spot. Have a conversation with your parents now to see what you should say if you were to get off the WL.
It maybe too late already, but it would have been nice to send in supplements, especially if you have done well 2nd semester.

I would call sometime next week to see where they are.

Thanks @oldfort! I will definitely call Cornell sometime next week to check up on the waitlist situation. I’ve already discussed with my family, so I would be ready if they called. I’m really hopeful but I am also accepting my chances realistically. WE CAN DO THIS GUYS- HANG IN THERE AND KEEP UPDATING!

I found out Cornell was going to WL on CC. I called my kid’s GC to call Cornell. Cornell’s rep told the GC that they weren’t ready yet, but that same afternoon Cornell called. I always wondered if Cornell would have put my kid on top of the list if the GC hadn’t called.

My kid did send in a new packet middle of April. The packet had additional essay, LORs and updated transcript. I also let the school know that I would be happy to pay for my kid to attend the school. The GC let the school know that my kid would attend if accepted off the WL.

@oldfort thanks so much for giving us all this info! What’s the difference between calling the admissions yourself vs getting the guidance counsellor to?

@oldfort was this for this year…class of 2019…or last year? We were told they didn’t know if they would be taking folks off the waitlist yet to fill the class of 2019.
