Official Cornell Early Decision Class of 2017

I’m not sure if there’s an exact date yet, I think they’re aiming for somewhere between the 15th and the 17th, but they should let us know as it gets closer, I think.

My supplement is a bit less than 500 words, but my commonapp essay is a bit more.

Mine is way over 500 words but they told me at HumEc that it was okay to be over. Mine is like 900 haha. But I know people who have gotten accepted with >900 so I think I’ll be fine. And my Common App is like 620

Is anyone concerned about what people are saying on the “Why Cornell” forum? I’m kind of scared :(

^^^Yes, I find that thread stress-inducing. I am fairly certain my S would not be happy in such an environment but as it is all sort of anonymous and decontextualized information, it did not make sense to share it with him so late in the process. While I don’t doubt the sincerity of the posters, I don’t really know what they’re bringing to the situation. Still, reading it makes me think deferral followed by acceptance may have its up-side!

Application submitted to CAS!!! Fellow CAS applicants…anyone feel like sharing stats? I wanna see how I compare to the random other applicants haha.

To the other HumEc applicants…let’s hope they have a good acceptance rate! It can vary a lot year to year, one admissions officer from there told me that one year they accepted 50% and other years they accept 20%. But she said it’s always around 1/3 accepted so hopefully it is a little high this year! I’ll be submitting mine later today :)

i’m applying to ILR!! if anybody else is applying there could you private message me info or stats? (: i am applying with a 2100 but 3.3 gpa at a rigorous charter school… any chance if i have really good essays?

I just submitted my app, does Cornell email you something afterwards? I haven’t gotten anything yet from Cornell but maybe because it is the weekend.

If I may ask, what did you guys score on the sat? Do you think I can get in to cas with a 1330 m+r?

^Most likely not unless you have a hook (minority, legacy, or athlete). Most accepted students to CAS have a mid 1400 and higher SAT .

Ya you definitely have a shot. Why not try? I know many people who have gotten in with 1800-2000 SAT scores (not sure about m+r though). If it’s your first choice, give it a try.

Applying to CAS can’t wait hope to see you guys there ! :)

i have a 1360 M/R score, so im taking the SAT again next month to boost up my math score, which was 660. not having a math related major and applying ED hopefully helps, though. plus, my essays were really good i think

well you can’t send the november SAT scores to colleges you applied early decision to, right?

I am a minority and technically a triathlete, though I’m not amazing at any of the sports to be considered for a sports scholarship

Just submitted my application to Cornell Engineering~
Can’t wait 'til December!

Does SAT writing make a difference in admissions? What you guys think?

Supposedly they don’t consider the writing score at all

Submitted everything tonight! It feels so weird to be done. Best of luck to everyone! Im not sure what to feel now. Ahhh.

Hey guys! Do you guys know the exact time/date ED is due cause of the hurricane? I really need help with my supplemental essays and could use some extra time. Also if anyone wants to read mine that would be great!

Thank you!
