@Bubinski, To answer your question, yes, I am african american, and no I dont percieve you as racist. And while im not naive enough to think that being a minority didn’t help my application a little bit, I still think I would have gotten in if I was caucasian. My essays and letters of recomendation were amazing and were probably the biggest reasons I got in (I am a very good writer and one of my essays was about the relatively unique adversity I have overcome in my life). But I also had a ton of extracurriculars (two year letterman in football, varsity debater with a lot of tournaments won, 1st place in nation in an engineering competition, internship at a law firm, boy scouts, and more) and awards (national merit and national achievement semifinalist among many others). Also, I have known that I wanted to get into Cornell for about half a year now and did a lot of research into it to make sure it was te best fit for me and that showed on my other essay. Also, My SAT wasn’t that low, I only posted the CR+M score because thats all Cornell looks at. My total SAT score was 2170.

Also yes, the admission rates are different for different schools at Cornell. Just google the name of whatever school you are interested in along with admission rate and you should find it

My grades weren’t that spectacular and neither are my ECs but I think my essays were very strong and stood out. I believe my recs were really good too so that may have helped

My D got in yesterday to CALS - as an animal science major - I am sorry to hear about those who were deferred/rejected and I now it is a painful process. Good luck to everyone, and I believe you will find a great school/fit for your desires and studies. For those who were accepted, congratulations and hope to see you in Ithaca.

Rejected. 33 ACT, 690 Bio, 720 Math I, 3.97 GPA, 5 in AP Bio, Chemical Society Scholarship finalist, Own a beef cattle business, varsity volleyball and softball with multiple all-conference and other honors. President of NHS, FFA member, 4-H member, female in engineering as a first generation college student. Slightly angry just based on the stats people are posting who are accepted because a lot of my test scores were better. Oh well. Going to go to michigan which is better at Engineering anyway :)

And it’s telling me I need to finish the housing application process and sign up for a meal plan by December 15? That’s tomorrow…I didn’t even get an official acceptance letter in the mail yet or a Cornell Net-ID…

Is there some mistake or do I have to finish all this tonight?
