Official Cornell Early Decision Class of 2018

Thank you sunshine. I had clicked the link Mon night and it didn’t go anywhere. I overlooked it this evening until you pointed it out. Many thanks!

Hi CT… Go into decision letter which has a highlighted link which you click on and will be directed easily thereafter. Congrats btw!!

where did everyone get the financial aid package?

I believe most people who still come to this thread are accepted to ED. Congrats bros and sis!

@cornellpls

I got an email saying that they had completed my FA package. It then opened into an easy to use website and you can download a PDF of the FA package.

Still nothing on paper in the mail but I’m expecting it today or tomorrow. Anybody else get the paper acceptance letter yet?

Any international student that got his finaid package?

@AbsurdUniverse99, I got my acceptance letter in the mail on Tuesday.

D got the big envelope today :)

Any international who has received the official mail?and the financial aid package?

I don’t think they have finished the packages yet… For international students of course

Cornell rep said today that 4,775 ED apps. 1,325 admitted, a 27.7% rate. ED apps up 13.6% from last year, up 75% since 2002.

Cornell is forced to chose from among the very best high school seniors in America. The students who were not admitted to Cornell will attend top colleges and be very successful in obtaining their goals.

On the day of my birthday,December 16th, I received what I thought would be the best news. I thought that the acceptance letter would change my life fervently and get me out of the basic education Mexico has to offer me. All my life I dedicated myself to be different from the typical Mexican crowd with an unprosperous future. When I found out I would attend Cornell as an international student my world did change, or so I thought. Just a few hours ago I got an email from Cornell’s financial aid saying they were sorry for not being able to provide me with financial assistance. All of my dreams, my hope for a brighter future, and the thought that I made a change burnt themselves to the ground with the unfairness of a financial situation. I guess that it does not matter how much you try to get yourself out of a bad situation, sometimes there is no way out.

@Gravixersibling: I am so sorry. I honestly feel your pain

Cornell does its best to support its students. It’s very, very expensive and someone has to pay. Rather than saddle yourself with debt, choose a more affordable path. Cornell for graduate school in the future? It will all work out and you will make the best of it, I’m sure.

@Gravixersibling: I am truly sorry about your situation. Perhaps you can contact Cornell and try to work something out…they are open to negotiation, especially in the ED round. Independent scholarships are also an option. But even if you don’t end up attending next year, the fact that you were admitted proves that you have a bright future ahead, wherever you may go. Best of luck to you.

@Gravixersibling if there’s anything that ****es me off, it’s when accepted int’l students are indirectly rejected. Cornell financial aid is independent of the admissions office and they have very limited funds for int’l students. That stuff really sucks but don’t despair, just apply RD to other schools and hope for the best. You’ll get the one that was meant to be.

Heyy guys, does anyone know about financial aid. I hadn’t initially applied for aid and I’ve been accepted ED, so is there anyway I can apply for aid now? Perhaps in the RD cycle?

@hopeful - I don’t believe so.
This is a very informative write-up for international students.

Yeah I haven’t really met any international students that are getting financial aid :/

Financial aid is pretty tough, especially for internationals. :(
