Official Cornell Early Decision Class of 2018

Thanks, I should shoot an e-mail to admission office now.

Do you think that the deadline push is going to make the results come out really late? If so, it would be really difficult to focus on regulars…

Cornell has said on their official blog that they have no plan to push the notification date back. Apparently, though, Penn broke a record on how many ED apps they received this year…

I wouldn’t worry about the admissions officers. They have to do this every year, and last year, even the extended deadlines for Hurricane Sandy, they released decisions on time.

Anyone having trouble viewing the applicant self-service site? Every time I log in it says that there is an error, I have tried several computers.

So for the alumni meetings, will the alum know anything about us? Like, will they have read our applications or anything?

@AJW315 Yea there is an error in Cornell’s server today.

@Bubbles888 The alums know much of your application.

So now that we’ve all applied :slight_smile: what was it about Cornell that prompted you all to apply early decision?

A question for AAP applicants (or more specifically, architecture): Are we supposed to confirm that they’ve received and sorted our portfolios and interview documentation? From the email I received, it makes it seem that we’re supposed to call, but then again, Cornell (in general) has said that if they haven’t received part of your application, they’ll contact you in mid-November…
This is what the email said: “The architecture admissions committee will only consider your application if all of your required materials have been received by November 8, 2013 for early decision and January 2, 2014 for regular decision. It is your responsibility not only to see that all required information is sent, but also that it has been received by the correct office.”

And a more general question: Does Cornell list detailed ED stats anywhere?

Good luck to everyone!

Did anybody else receive a phone call from Cornell?

@SageQi thanks!

@Pomplemousse are you applying for ILR? I think somewhere earlier in this thread, some ILR kids were talking about getting phone calls

@Bubbles888 The alum will know some parts of your application, but not everything. My son reports that his alum interviewer knew which high school my son goes to but specifically mentioned that he didn’t know my son’s grades or his scores.

@ForeverFish @renomamma It said on the Cornell blog that alums are only are able to get to 50-60% of applicants due to timing, geography, etc. In our case, the alum left a phone message because my son had not responded to an email message sent a week earlier. We never saw the first email message; it didn’t even appear in the spam filter. Given that this is all-volunteer on the part of the alums, it might depend on hard they are willing to work to get in contact. NOT getting contacted shouldn’t hurt you.

@Bubbles888 I applied to the College of Human Ecology!

I took the November SAT and requested the score to be sent to Cornell the day before I took the November SAT. Do you think Cornell will wait till it receives my November score (this Thursday) before viewing my application?

Thank you Crowlady :)

@crowlady that makes sense, thanks!

@pomplemousse wait, then what was the phone call about?

if the decisions do come out on the 12th then it will be on my 18th BIRTHDAY. great…happy birthday to me! or not.

does anyone know if the person who interviews you reports back to Cornell briefly about the meaning? in an email i received it said it would not affect admissions decisions at all, so i took that as a no.

@pomplemousse Unfortunately, they steadfastly say (even after the delayed ED deadline) that they don’t guarantee they can consider November SAT results. But if they get it time I’m sure they will look at it. My son took an extra SAT II test in November. If the score is good I’ll rush it. But I don’t really expect it will get there in time. I probably will regret waiting.

Does Cornell care about visits?? I am currently applying to CALS and I have noticed that information session is over. Therefore, I think just visiting campus is waste of time and money. But do you thing it matters?

@Bubbles888 Cornell called and asked if I had any questions/ anything I wanted to know more about Cornell. Told me that there are a lot of clubs at Cornell… Nothing about an interview.
